Avatar and Title Changes; Graphical Signatures

The most frequent of the Frequently Asked Questions about RPGDot concern avatar and title changes. Here are the answers:

How do I change my avatar?
You can select an avatar from one of the existing ones in your profile. After you reached 500 posts, without spamming, you can send a .JPG image which is not larger than 90x90 pixels and a title to go along with it to one of the administrators. This will then be your very own avatar.

When do I get a new title?
Your title will change every 25 posts, until you reach 500 posts after which you are entitled to have your own unique title.

Admins, mods, game developers and usergroup founders are allowed larger custom avatars. People with 500+ non-spam posts are allowed a "medium sized" custom avatar.

Standard size- 60 x 60 pixels
500+ poster size- 90 x 90 pixels
authority figure size ( )- 110 x 110 pixels

There's about 1000 public RPGDot avatars you can use right now. Go into your profile and click on the "show gallery" button down at the bottom to see them.

Addendum
Graphical signatures are restricted to a maximum of 3600 pixels. Meaning, the total size of all images in the signature should not exceed 3600 pixels. So you could have a 60x60 image or a 180 x 20 image etc. etc. In the case of multiple images the sizes of individual images are added together and the total number of those pixels should not exceed 3600.

Animated images are only acceptable as long as 'they do not distract too much', which is determined by the moderators/admins and the number of complaints received.

In contrast to what has been said before, you can now e-mail your avatars to Jaz (jaz@rpgdot.com). She is our brand new head of the avatar department

In my experience there are some who belief me to have psychic powers. Unless Jaz does have them it would be wise to explain in the e-mail with the avatar what nickname you are using on the forums.
Also if this is your 500th post, a title is a requirment, so please add that too.

Animated avatars are not allowed; animated signatures will be removed when deemed distractive.

How many lines is a(n) graphical/animated image/sig supposed to be?
How can someone deem how distractive or not is an animated sig?
Do the member of the forum vote or something else?

a ) It depends on the dimensions and format of the graphical sig. You need to compare its size against the height of a line of text. A regular 60x60 picture would correspond to roughly three lines of text.
b ) That's up to personal impression. As soon as there is so much as one complaint, whether by staff or users, it's off to never-neverland.

In short, you're safer with a non-animated sig picture.

Does that mean if I make my own game I can have a 110x110 avatar?

Or is that just for Professional Game Developers?

I could make a realy crappy "game" in about 5 minutes hehe

It's reserved for professional game developers.

In case your questions haven't been answered in this thread, feel free to PM me. This thread will be updated in case of need (new rules, new most frequently asked questions...)
