Yes, it seems also logical to me.

Why should we suppose that adventures do not get exp. when they are not with us? Do they just sit and wait? :]

Well, they don't seem to be doing anything useful when we find them (just standing around, except Vi and Glumph whose are prisoners). And we always (except when that bug strikes) know where to find them. So maybe they're lazy and you're giving them too much credit.

Edit: Actually, I guess I should include Rodan and the T'rang ninja (forgot his name) as people who are doing nothing as prisoners. But I never did the unification quests so I didn't think of them initially.

Yah, and the T'rang Samurai is just hanging out in his "office" the whole time.
The only one who's really exposed to any potental fun is Myles.

People in general do a lot of that in RPGs. I always wondered what the hell people actually DID in Arnika when I wasn't there. I mean, there's only like 7 or so people in the whole freaking town to talk to. I think it'd get pretty boring.

hi all hope you all are ok?

can anyone tell me what you are supposed to do in the mountain clearing? Im there right now and there dosnt seem to be anything to do or any nice bits to pick up!

So why is it here? is it just a monster killing spree or am i supposed to be doing something useful?

After you visit the Rapax Castle, then the Clearing will change. Some important encounters take place there.

Question about the non-Rapax wilderness clearing: I met a friendly hogar called Rex there, close to the pool with the waterfall. He followed me around if I got close to him, but apart from that, there wasn't any response from him. Is he part of a (completable) quest?

Did someone say "nervous breakdown"? Yeah, I played the game mostly through Novice, even after winning the first time around. The next level "Normal" is more like abnormal to me. Most everyone moves faster and strikes more often than you. Considering that you're usually out-numbered most of the time...well, I don't need that kind of stress. Yet those of you who can handle it, I wonder if you're avoiding combat more often at higher levels. And if so, don't you think that takes away some of the fun? At least with some games you can apply cheat codes to get out of those aggrevating situations.

I've done all my playing on "Normal". I found that by the time I hit level 13 or so, battles weren't too stressful anymore (with a few big exceptions like Nessie, the SW Wilderness, and the Rapax Castle). I really don't consider myself a combat/strategy guru, either. By that point, you've got enough status effects via spells and instuments (I usually had a bard in my party) to level the playing field pretty well. I think that choosing a good battle site is the key. Making sure you're in a corner or doorway makes things much less stressful.

I, too, have done almost all my playing on normal. Generally, I don't avoid combat, as I want the XP. Right now, I can think of only 2 times I went out of my way to avoid combat (with X-ray, you can see monsters farther away - especially if you click on the automap - I don't count not running towards monsters when I'm not going in that direction). First time through, I got in deep trouble in the forbidden areas of the Umpani caves and with monsters staring me in the face I had to Return to Portal to save my skin.

This second time through, I want to keep moving towards the end again, and I got into a funky situation on my way back to Trynton from Arnika. My game kept spawning monster groups of 8 juggernauts & 2-3 vines. I would kill a group, and another would re-spawn nearby. I basically couldn't walk away from where I was, and after 5 of the same encounters (which were easy enough, but boring and time consuming) I ran to Trynton to avoid 2 more groups of the same which I didn't feel like fighting. Did anybody else ever have this?

I love my lizardman fighter. I named him Egg. He's sort of a dope but he sure can kick some ass!

Experience does go faster with fewer group memebers but I really like playing all the classes.
