We´re almost through with the quests.

A trainer list will of course be included. We haven´t decided yet who will do it.

Database

I'm sort of a gamer freak so don't be alarmed by this:

I'm an Access programmer. Sometimes, when I'm extra freakish about a game, I'll build a database of info using the relational features of Access so that you can 'drill down' to something specific from different angles.

I built one of these for G2. I have an Object database, an NPC database, a location database, a quest database and so on and so forth. You can, for example, pull up the object database and bring up, say, the Dragon Slicer and if there is anything related to that object in one of the other databases, it will be cross-referenced there... so you can pull up Dragon Slicer and see that it shows up in the location database - double click that location and get more info.

Anyway, if you think this might be helpful, let me know. I spent about 20 hours building the database.

If you could write some VBA code to convert the stuff Gorath needs for his Quest Book from your Access document to a Word/Excel document, I think he may find it useful.

Thanks for your offer!

I don´t quite understand which data is in your DB and what can be done with it. Do you have complete sets of data or only parts? (For example all teachers?)

The database is not totally done. But some of the datasets are complete. I used a FAQ on the net to populate the database.

I have no clue if any of htis would be useful to you. But with the data I do have entered, it's pretty slick how you can 'drill down' into specific information from something else seemingly unrelated.

If yuou want to take a look at it, I can send it to you. If you are interested in it, I wouldn't mind finishing it up.

Damn, I was so sure I had replied to this a week ago.

Thanks for your kind offer. The quests are already finished. If you feel fit enough for other things we can probably find something.

Hard to say. At the moment it´s me who is standing on the brakes. I´m a bit disorganized lately.

One more thing:
If anybody feels I should have contacted him some time ago please mail me again. A month or so ago I got distracted while removing spyware with XP-clean. I overlooked it had marked my ad-financed Eudora mail client for deletion. 5 seconds later I no longer needed to clean up my mail box.
There were only a few important mails in it, probably less than 5, but it´s still an annoyance.
So if we lost contact in Nov. or early Dec. you know what´s behind it.

Just so you know, there's an excellent guide at www.ellusion.no
It has all or most of the quests, along with a list of trainers and the locations of a bunch of items. Damn good actually. [/url]

Yep. Slooowly. Now I have a deadline to meet for the NotR review. (This month.)

No seriously, I think we should consider early to mid April as release date for the guide. HWF will understand it, but unfortunately I can´t talk about the reason. I can only say that the reason is not Gothic related, to avoid speculations.

I´ll send you a longer mail tonight or tomorrow.

@tim131313
Thanks for the info about the the FAQ. We already knew about it. It´s pretty good.
