I'm bumping this, mostly kuz i got some new ideas (that's right, it's infinite in here!):
Party of Three Hobbits:
a) started as Alchemist (for the 74 Dex and 17 Alc) Switched at L2 to Ranger, had L5 as Rogue for Stealth.
b) started as Rogue (for the 74 Dex and 15 L&T--stayed L1 through Stealth and L&T practise) then went Bard for 5 levels and is now Fighter
c) started as Bard (for the 7's in Art's, Myth and Comms and extra 5 Music, and because you can't get Seekers for Stealth training with 2/3 of your party at L1)
I entered the game with 3 Fighters, changed one to Bard then Rogue then Alc, in order to buy the Lute and some Daggers, changed the others to Rogue and Bard and equipped them all in the Fighter armor (the Alc used Daggers until she became a Ranger, then Mace) C will go for 11 Bard levels and make Samurai when i get to the Int fountain.
The idea is to have one Bard use the lower level instruments and be the lockpicker, and the other will use the other inst's and PP, saving Skill Points for better Combat.

Party of Two:
a) Hobbit Ninja, started as Rogue (for the 74 Dex and 12 PP & 15 L&T) Will switch to Fighter in order to wear the Infy Helm and wield DE--she's got 2 Nunchake now, that's a lot of fun...
b) Like c above, but to Bard L14.

Party of another 2: Non-PP party!!!
a) Rawulf L1 Rogue (high Dex and L&T), switched to Lord & stayed there.
b) Human started as Bishop, Rogue at L5, Lord at L13 (11 Bish levels to get Portal quickly as possible)

I'm gonna try to see if i can develop PP at all under the newest patch, too, i think i'll run another party to test that, they might not finish if that doesn't pan out...

Well, i've been reading this thread and another in the Wiz8 section and dang it, if i didn't get the desire to play again.

Started with an all human party, after the all hobbit party lost the coin toss.

Got to where I got the Helm of Serinity, and they still weren't clicking with me
Lord-male, Samurai-male, Ranger-female, Valkrye-duh, Bard-male (not sure what I was thinking here) and Priest-female. So they got dumped, they were my fifth starting party.

So now I've got a Fighter-male, Rogue-male, Ranger-female, Valkrye, Alchemist-female and a Bishop-female. Not sure how long they will last, getting ready to start the upper monastary. I haven't multi-classed before, so I might start over and try that or maybe try "otters" party of two or three hobbits. Since he seems to have a few good ideas and I'll get to multi-class.

I'll keep you updated, thanks for getting me going again.

It's a wonderful game. With the possible exception of the older Might & Magic games, I'm unaware of any games that have the depth of character development of Wiz8. I hope that some of the larger RPG developers out there take notice that gorgeous water effects are nice, but character development is more likely to make us want to replay a game.

But there's no money in replayability--they'd prefer you to want to move on to the next product sooner. The first few days of excitement in a new game are all they need for "word-of-mouth" to sell more.

Since it's been bumped up, here's my update:

Party #2 won a while ago. This was a good all-hybrid party, a little weaker in the beginning and stronger in the end [than the demo-like party (sub lord for fighter) I won the first time with].

Party #3 is ready to leave the monastery for the first time. It's a weaker party, meant for me to experiment with the 4 classes I didn't use as PCs before. I'm running a mook fighter (1st time since demo), faerie ninja (gotta try this combo for the CoC), hobbit thief (1st time), mook psionic (1st time), gnome alchemist (1st time), & faerie bishop. As I posted elsewhere, I'll run this party through Trynton for the CoC and the northern wilderness for the giant sword to try out these weapons which I could never use before, and decide if I want to keep playing with it.

When I drop the party, it's on to try a smaller party. Ranger / ninja / bishop, and maybe an extra ninja.

Well, here's my update decided to go my own way with a 4 member team:
1) Male Hobbit - Rogue for 2 or 3 levels, had to raise a couple of attributes to change him into a lord - will finish as Lord (I think)
2) Female Hobbit - Rogue for 1 level, then to Samurai at level 2. May go back to rogue for more L&T skill points. Should have kept her a rogue longer I believe. I hate to use my ninja for L&T.
3) Female Fairy - Ninja, never played one and kept hearing about them, so....
4) Female Elf - Bishop, same as ninja, plus keeps all spells available to me.

After reading otter's post about the hobbit dex, they had to be hobbits. Maybe the next one will be human.

We are leaving Arnika for the monastary again, not sure after that. We got killed by some plants and I decided to take a break. Ok, breaks over.

@Dagem - I loved my female elf bishop in my last party. A good choice IMO, even though this time I went for a female faerie bishop. (Since I had a weaker fighting party, I wanted the extra spell point regeneration to try to make up for it.)

Well, disaster has struck. I was leaving the monastary the second time and I met 2 cultist and 6 raiders. I've been killed six times trying different battle plans, its that nasty fireball spell that does my guys in.

I'm gonna head back to the monastary and see if the trader there has something I can use.

Magic screen- you might not be able to cast it yet, though

-or-

The Charge of the Light Brigage- the raiders will chew on you some, but run run run so you can melee those cultists.

Probably stating the obvious, but those are probably your best options for where you are at the moment.

I went back and gained a level so, now I can cast silence (i had my choice of magic screen or silence) but on my way back I just ran into highwaymen, two battles with 19 and 20 worth about 25,000 exp each, Yes!!
Got Arnika and still haven't decided if I'm going after the diamond(for the bank teller) or on to Tryton.

I want to ally the T & U clans, but I can't remember if joining the U's army will mess that up. I remember the pvt. at the door asking about the T'rang, but I don't remember if Z'ant (i'm lousy at remembering the races names and even worse at spelling them. ) ask you about the Umpani (sp?). Oh well, I'm off to battle some more.

Oh, by the way I'm in Muncie, just up the road from you.

Small world... Party Time U, or a working schmuck like me?

BTW, you can do all but the final quests for both the Trang and Umpani without screwing up the alliance.

Working schmuck and weekends are playtime, since my wife has to work most of them. I can spend hours at a time playing games, been that way since Tempest, Defender and Robotron 2084. (Heh, showing my age there ain't I)

Thanks, I don't know if I allied them the last time I played or not, So I thought I would this time around.

Must be nice. I got married right out of Rose-Hulman, so my nights were never completely free, but I had a much better chance to play before the kids. When the kids are up, Daddy doesn't get to play much. Once the kids go to bed, Mommy likes a little attention. And I just can't get away with staying up until 3 or 4 like the old days...

I've got to get all of this game time in now, when my wife finishes school (aug) I think my weekend gaming binges will be over.

I just hope Gothic 2, is released here in the US and I have time to finish before then. I don't have any kids yet, and yes at 34 soon to be 35, I know staying up til 3 and 4 am isn't anywhere near as easy as it once was. It's 1:25 now and I should have stopped playing and surfing a long time ago.

Here's a little update - We ventured to the Umpani Base and Joined, Killed the rat breeders, and met the DS in the swamp, returned to Big Ratt and tried to fight him. Oops the first three round we didn't even touch him. Decided to continue into the swamps and to the mines.
