Wizardry 9 and Jagged Alliance 3 possible

As the previous newsbit had to announce our interview with Robert Sirotek and Linda Currie properly, I decided to do this newsbit to stress out the two most important answers of the interview again: There seems to be a good chance, that both Jagged Alliance 3 and even Wizardry 9 will see the light of day, as Robert Sirotek, head of SirTech told us and he will continue with SirTech. Stay tuned for more news as they get available.

I agree

2 Thoughts come to mind.

I was just thinking right now how JA is one of a select few games to appear on rpgdot that isnt an rpg game. Thats fairly significant.. I think

and 2.

I was playing morrowind last night when I said aloud. "This would never happen in wizardry"

Reflecting on an NPC whom I had just killed. This character lived in a house with 2 locked chests. Yet they didnt own any keys..

In fact I think I'll install wizardry 8 tonight..

@Baron Zemm: Jagged Alliance has some RPG elements in it, just like some other strategy titles, e.g. Heroes of MM, Disciples...we even have added Age of Wonders. It is sometimes a thin line, when we are deciding about the games we should add

I would really hope for a change in interface for a Wizardry 9.. I know a lot of people are used to the looking through a frame view.. but I get really bored with that, and given the new game engines coming out.. (imagines Wizardry 9 in an Unreal 2 engine).. wow, would that be kewl!
Imagines the rogue sliding in and taking up his/her place in the shadows of a corner.. while the warrior pokes around in the ashes of the fireplace, the wizard rumages through the books on the shelf.. (well, you get the idea)

There's no game I want more than JA3. JA2 is still the best game ever made, IMO.

Wizardry 9!!!

Can it possibly be true!? I may again find myself sneaking out of work 2 hours early because a student friend e-mails me saying stock of Wiz9 is being unpacked and put onto shelves of the local PC shop?

This was my experience when Wiz8 was released, my InBox was running hot as a group of Wizardry fans from all around the country were swapping rumours of where Wiz8 was avaialble for purchase, such was the enthusiasm for getting this game. Reminiscent of my late teenage years and queuing up for days to get hold of coveted rock concert tickets.

I guess this dumb grin on my face is evidence enough of how much I hope this comes true! Stick with it Robert and Linda!!!

I'm going to have to agree. JA2 is still the best game ever, ludicrously decrepit as it is (and how can a game released in 1999 perform so sluggishly on a 2Ghz processor? The mind boggles). I just finished wizardry Wizardry VIII and it was frickin amazing. How exciting to imagine games once again being designed by people who are good at it.

Well thats good news.

But let me rain on the parade and relate these things it tells us.

Wizardry 9 is not being worked on. It would be many years from this day before it would be reality at best.

I think Jagged Alliance 3 was being worked on, and now its not. What seemed like a likely occurance is now a maybe occurrance.

Neither of these people have money, or know someone who wants to put money into making Wizardry 9 that they can relate to the interviewer. Im not sure who owns the rights to jagged alliance 3.

I dunno what information I really got, other than the owner of the copyright is still alive, and some of the programmers want to stay together as a group and make games. Both of those are good news and heartening to hear though.

I really hope there is a wizardry 9, and its made by the same people as wizardry 8.

If I recall correctly, Wiz 9 was already 1 year in production, after Wiz 8 was finished and stood wothout publisher - however it is sometimes easier to start from scratch than continue a code after a long break...

3 things
1) I just started Wiz 8. I was reluctant to at first because of the first person only perspective...I played it anyway...I'm totally hooked. Its a great great game. I will look forward to Wiz 9 with all of you

2) What is this JA? I've never heard of it and yet all of you are raving about it. How old is it and where can I pick it up / get more info on it?

3) Anything 'Age of...' is RTS
Age of Empires
Age of Mythology
nice games, if you're into RTS. While Im no fan of RTS by any means, the Ao series has always managed to get me to play a round or two before my head starts to swim from all the micromanagement
