Teach me to speak!

Noob.

You know, Gothic seems like it could be a decent RPG but hell, I've lost count how many times I've had to search these forums before running down the first hill!

My most recent issue, I have not found an answer for: how do I speak with other characters?

According to the keyboard settings I'm supposed to press 'A' or NUMPAD MULL (what is 'mull'?). Well 'A' doesn't work and neither does any other key I associated with speaking.

If one of the other characters initiates conversation I'm fine with responding, but if I just stand in front of someone (so their name appears above their head) and press the 'A' key, nothing happens.

Cheers

Forget whatever the key imput screen says..
I push left mouse then foward key (while still holding left mouse) this is sufficient for conversation, object interaction, and picking stuff up (which is object interaction, just clarified).
Hope that helps.
For additional info refer to Jemy's walkthrough as it has a complete control scheme laid out and it doesn't have to spoil anything if you don't read further.
later, rordog
