Yes, it's definately unusual to be that high a level at chapter 1. But I was trying to do everything possible before I moved to the next chapter. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

I tend to get well into the teens in Chapter 1 as well ... really play out as much as I can before heading to the valley.
... oh, and if you want respawning, play Dungeon Lords - you don't have to wait for chapter breaks, because stuff in that game respawns every minute!

Well, I guess it's kind of extrodinary that one goes to level 14 in chapter one. Maybe it's because NotR is a lot harder, but when I played Gothic, each of the times I finished it I went to chapter 2 with level 8 or 9.
In Gothic 2 I normally was level 15-16 and had even taken on the Orc Elite in the forest.
Now with NotR it's only level 12 or so and then I decide it's enough and start chapter 2, because the enemies are becoming strong for my low-level armor. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

Where do you guys find enough creatures to kill for your level to get that high in chap 1? I think I have killed most of the killable creatures (i.e. wolves, field-raiders, rats, goblins and lurkers etc) available. The ones that are left are just too tough, snappers and shadowbeasts etc. |

Also kill those.
In Gothic 2 (without NotR) you can kill a Shadowbeast when you're around level 10, with a little luck. Snappers can be lured away from the pack and then be killed one on one. Orcs can be blocked and so you only need to prevent them from hitting you.
In NotR this all becomes a lot harder to do. Snappers are relatively weak and when you're around level 10 you can take them one on one. Orcs, Shadowbeasts and Wargs are creatures I leave for later when playing NotR. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

Unfortunately I'm still on level 7, I don't think I'm going to stand much chance against a snapper or a shadowbeast, even without NotR. Oh well, it's back to looking for field raiders again. |

Find yourself a transform into shadowbeast scroll. You can take out half the valley regardless of your level with one of those. ^_^ _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |
