| How to you pick up items in Gothic? |
|
I just got it and started, but cant figure out how to pick up items. And i really need to get this pick axe to kill some stuff  |

Walk up to an item until it gets highlighted ( gets more brigth than before ) Press your forward key ( up arrow for example ) + ctrl or your left mouse button. |

Imagine it the following way:
Use alternative controls. Now you have a shooter-like setup (ASDW + mouse, weapons & spells on 1,2,...). If you want ot do something you have to press the 'action key' (CTRL or the LMB) and a directional key to specify the target. In 9 out of 10 cases this will be LMB + forward. This combo does almost anything.

The name of the object will also apear, except for (burning) torches.

it is usually more effective if you hold down the action key (mine is set to "F' for easy reach) and hit the forward button (mine is set up for "W")

This is the worst part of the game. It will take some getting used to.
You press forward and left mouse at the same time.
A large part of the game you will be walking past the things you are trying to pick up until you learn to press mouse first then forward. |
