I would like to see Mud back…the guy was annoying, funny and a great piece of comical relief. Although the thumb screws guy at the old castle was pretty fun when it came to meat bugs…Of all the things I like about Gothic, I would have to say the comedic moments are the best.

P.S. Who thought up Mud?

I think it's almost impossible for Mud to show up and the game would still be a cotinueation from the first part...

Oh, maybe Cavalorn too

At a more serious plan, I wonder if you in PB have any internal name of the hero, it should be strange if you called him 'The Hero' all the time.

I think he was based on a German TV personality.

I want a few spoilers
What's the name of our belowed hero????
Any eastier eggs???

I don't really think that you will answer those, but I made my shot

you are right. i won't answer those. all i can say is that the nameless hero will never ever say his name. nor will any other character divulge it. at least not until we find a name that suits the hero well. i was thinking about "harold", but the other piranhas didn't like it all that much.

no, just kidding.

@ironman: well, actually mud was based on nothing but a weird story author's mind. i spent a lot of time figuring out in how far he identifies with mud, but before i could finish my studies, he left the company and started working for EA. i really miss him and his ... well... pets.

hey kairo please tell me that rice schnapps wont be coming back, it made the new camp remind me of an asian ghetto
(no offense to anyone that likes asian ghettos)

edit: does the name of the addon actually have anything to do with it or did pb just choose it cause it sounds so cool?

you won't find rice schnapps in every single npc's pocket. i wouln't put my hand into the fire for it though that the entire game is rice schnapps free but hey, you can however steer clear of it, you won't need it for finishing the game.

among other things, a raven plays a role. we wouldn't pick a name that does not relate to the plot at all . but although i like poultry, the game dosn't focus solely on the raven.

I have a question if I may…well two actually. Fist, we have been discussing shields and advanced weapons in another thread. It won’t be hard to find just look for a thread with over a hundred posts. Anyway, I’m curious as to the cannons that were put in G2. No one uses them but Waldo or whoever tells a little blurb about serving in the royal navy and being a good with one. Will future releases of Gothic introduce advanced weaponry?

And who at PB handles performance issues?

honestly, i don't know. we're developing gothic III from scratch, and a few scratch papers is all we have for the time being. i don't think usable cannons would serve the game's atmosphere, but that's just my personal opinion. concerning shields: that's something we're thinking over and over, and it looks as if you'll very likely find shields in gothic III. but due to the very early stage of development (and the technical limitations we might find ourselves confronted with later), i wouldn't be too enthusiastic about that if i were you.

in the case of gothic II, carsten and nico (both programmers, of course) dealt with performance issues, maily optimizing code that had been written ages ago by the gothic I programmers. the gothic III engine will be developed by four programmers (nico, carsten, kurt and oliver), and each one of them will keep an eye on the performance of his specific modules. well, hopefully.

ok, it's 6:22am here in germany, and i can barely keep my eyes open. see you tomorrow.

Gothic (both) are fantastic games, but the main problem seems to be distribution. I know it's not your department, but you are NOT being well served. G1 was never released here, and G2 still isn't, I ordered my copy from the UK. Paid a lot more, but it was worth it. The major games outlet her, EB says they won't be selling it. This needs to be addressed as you guys are awesome. Keep up the great work, I'll buy every RPG you produce.
