Just made my way to the very bottom of the old mine(I'm still in Chapter 1) and I find that guy Viper dead on the floor(don't know what killed him). I think nothing of and continue with my game. Than I'm reading a FAQ for Gothic and it says that if any of the templars or named NPCs, at the bottom of the old mine, die it'll be impossible to finish the game. How true is that and is this Viper guy really that vital in the later chapters?? |

Thats a BIG lie.Viper if I remember corectly is the smith/trader of the Old Mine right??I had a templar dead at the bottom of the mine but to be sure I reload a previus game. But generally if someone dies in the old mine you can finish the game cause the two guys you need to procide are immortals(Ian&Asghan)
but I have doupts if before the oppening of the gate to the Minecrawlers nest
someone Templar with a name dies then what happens.....I think it would be Ok but not sure I have to check it out. _________________ I come from space. From outer space! |

JemyM wrote this because you need 3 templars for a mission in chapter 2. If one of them died before you´re stuck. Then you either have to cheat or reload.
Explaining all this in detail would have been complicated and it would have included spoilers. So he chose to simplify it a bit. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

You are a very intelligent man indeed if you managed to finish the game without knowing who Jemym is. _________________ Arguing over the internet is like competing in special olympics. Even if you win, you are still retarded. |

So I don't need Viper...cool. I was surprised to see him dead on the floor when I reached the bottom of the mine. So I'm correct to assume that as long as the Templars are alive I'm good? |

You only need two templars (with names) but I like to get three (for extra XP of course).

Well I am not sure for what I am going to say but you shouldn't "take care" of vipers ore.You should left it for a later chapter when his ore would be more.
Thats who it works when NPCs/traders are alive MAYBE its the same when they are dead because the corpse of a NPC is acting in the game like he is alive.
For example if you kill a shadow with a name his corpse will be out during the day and on the bed during the night. _________________ I come from space. From outer space! |

Well I wasn't going to do anything with Viper and left his dead body where it was at but when I left the area and returned he had dissapeared . So I reloaded my last save and looted his body so I wouldn't miss out on the ore. |
