Freezing when Moving between Old and New worlds? (no warez)

The other day I moved from chapter one to chapter two and went into the vally of mines, no prob. I killed a bunch of orcs talked to people in the castle and then decided to go back after leveling up to get more dex and complete a few quests. However when I tried to return it froze on me instead of loading? I heard this type of thing is supposed to happen when you go from the new to the old while using a no-cd crack, but is there any word when your not using any crack or hack or warez or anything just a legit copy? It is not a show stopper though because i reloaded my save and then walked through just fine. If there is no fix I can always just pay better attention and save before I go through the pass.

BTW, I had a bit of trouble on installation also but then it worked after a few tries also, perhaps it is just the cd drive or soemthing

Well, I have gone back and forth plenty of times now without any problem so it seems to be just something random. I'm sure it will happen again but it is so rare that I really don't care about it anymore...
