Problems with Squid (Mt Gigas Water Caves)

Just entered into the water caves from the Umpani side, and I'm getting my butt kicked by a group of three level 12 Squid (Even match for my party) who continually cast blind on my entire party. After blind hits, I'm sure you can imagine the chaos that ensues. My characters end up hitting each other and missing the enemy while I die and reload. I've tried killing them a bunch now, only been able to kill one before my party is pretty drained. Any suggestions on getting past these? Is the ink that they squirt considered a spell, could I buff myself some how?

My party currently is:

RFS-81 (Monk)
Bishop
Fighter
Samurai
Ninja
Bard
Rogue

Yes, buffs work against spell like effects. Make sure you have Magic Screen up and cast Elemental Shield as soon as you enter combat. This should reduce the number blind characters.

Of course, make sure you always have your other buffs up too, like Enchanted Blade, Armorplate, and Missile Shield. Certain potions can also cure blindness.

EDIT: if this change in tactics does not work, then you can always come back after a few levels and try again.

One thing to add--put your blinded characters on "defend". That will help their armor rating (which takes a beating when blinded) and also keep them from swatting each other.
