Need Help with Gothic II Save game |
|
I have a serious problem trying to load a savegame. It says :
---------------------------
Error-Message
---------------------------
B: VFILE: Err: -2: Can't find file: _WORK\DATA\ANIMS\_COMPILED\ITMW_2H_ORCAXE_01.MRM Code: 255
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
.
Now I've crossed into Chapter II, in the OldWorld and I've put in at least 4 hours of hacking and slashing Snappers and Dragonsnappers.
It seems I cannot load any save game from the old world.
Please, has anyone any ideea what to do.
I have Gothic II ver 1.31 English with no patches or addons.
Thanks,
Mihnea |

I used to run across this problem occasionally and what seem to work would be to load ANY OTHER savegame that works (preferably from that chapter). And then load the savegame that was NOT working.
I think this works because somehow the successful savegame load finds that file correctly and then its cached somehwere in memory so that the 2nd savegame load succeeds. _________________ All shall hear the words of Karras...the words of Karras |

you may copy that file into every Gothic 2 folder, so the loader must find it. its a very annoying way to fix it but it should work |

Another idea is setting the viewing distance to the minimum. Maybe then itīs no longer necessary to load this file. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

WoG says this bug was fixed in TNotR v2.6. If the game has an older revision you can only try to bypass it somehow. Itīs sound related, so disableing sound is one idea. The other was mentioned by Elkston. A third is: start a new game, save in another slot and then load the broken save. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

fixed or not in v2.6, I would still occasionally get that same error running notr 2.6. Elkston used the exact method I used. It worked the majority of the time. Just load up another save and then load the one you actually want.
Good luck.
