My usual answer: depends what you mean by "best"!
The high-damage weapons tend to be heavier, so many people prefer the lighter but slightly weaker weapons. Enchantments can have effects that some people find useful and others find useless. A character who is well trained in Axe and poorly trained in Long Blade would be foolish to use an Ebony Longsword, even if it does more basic damage than his current Dwemer War Axe. Claymores may do lots of damage, but they take a long time to swing - you can get in lots of dagger hits in the same time. Some arrows do a lot of damage, but fly a difficult-to-predict path. There are always trade-offs, so one person's "best" weapon may be another person's worst.
My personal preferred melee weapon is the Daedric Daikatana, it's very heavy and very slow to swing, but it does a lot of damage and can hold quite a few enchantment points.
My preferred long-range weapon is the Bonebiter Bow of Sul-Senipul. I never use the enchantment it holds (not my playing style), and it does less damage than a normal Bonemold bow, but it only weighs 2 units. I tend to carry Silver arrows for the big beasties, and Chitin or Iron for the little beasties.
I don't tend to use thrown weapons, although Chitin Throwing Stars are good fun. _________________ Charlie Dobbie

I think Sunder is the best. But as cfm said, it depends. Before Sunder, I always used my Ebony war axe. I know that it's not very good, but quite beautiful & easy to find. |

No, there's no Ultimate. But still there're a lot of VERY Good enchantments, like you can have a several seconds stun\paralyse, or editional damage, etc... |

See my response above. In short, define "Ultimate". _________________ Charlie Dobbie

There can be an ultimate weapon. Use an Ebony Scimitar w/100 Points of Absorb Health for 2 Seconds this can create up to 243 points of damage. I would recomend to use Almexia's soul because it contains 1,500 points and at the least it takes up to 8 charge points.
Or you can say the Black Hands Dagger is an ultimate weapon |

I'm using a training bow via Markman mod.
Can't beat that bad boy...specially paired with training arrows. Look out baddies. _________________ Shifter |

For those of you not familiar with the Marksman mod, the training bow makes it nearly impossible to hit the broad side of a barn and training arrows ensure that, if by some miracle you actually hit the critter, you won't hurt it in the slightest.
A great weapon for the "kinder, gentler" adventurer. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Personally I love Crysamere as a two-handed weapon and Trueflame for the one handed. It looks cool and does HOT damage. Crysamere since, come on, wielding a "Paladin's Blade" is just awesome sounding and it has some good enchantments. Although, the ONE time I had the time to go after the Daedric Creasant, it was also a good blade. I don't like disintegrating other peoples weapons and armor however. |
