Tristania - Widow's Weeds
The definitive gothic metal masterpiece. Forget Satan, he's for children.
Snowy, moonlit graveyards, ringed by barren trees, the choirs of nighttime denizens all offering their song to eternity. Crumbling ruins of once great castles, the spirits of their long dead owners roaming the grounds, barely visible only in the strains of pale moonlight, looking for their long lost love/pet/pencil sharpener, whatever. This sucker will draw a tear from ya, if youre into that sort of thing..
With more thee, thys, and thous than the Old Testament, and loads of medievel instrumentation mixed with thundering bass and heavy yet mournful guitar dirges, this cd will make you say "Cradle of what?"
Like 4 diff voices, from a deathy growl to haunting female siren song, to "clean" male SOM style vox, and full choir backup at times, I cant recommend this one enough.
