We were on guard duty together, once. A nodded off, as usual, and he started murmuring about in his sleep.
We were on guard duty together once. A nodded off as usual, and he started murmuring about in his sleep.

#We were on guard duty together once. He nodded off as usual, and started murmuring aloud in his sleep.

You guys lads don't lift a finger without grog, eh? Right you are.
You lads can't lift a finger without grog, eh? Right you are.

#You lads won't lift a finger without grog, eh? Right you are.

[The meaning of the phrase 'won't/don't lift a finger' is more coll. English. It means 'refuse to help or do work'. So using *can't* changes the meaning away from that phrase. I do see you caught the guys lads repeat.]

DIA_Addon_Samuel_Rum_14_02
The rum might taste of fish a little. We only have old herring barrels here. But rum stays rum. Enjoy!
The rum might taste a little fishy. We only have old herring barrels here, but rum stays rum. Enjoy!

??The rum may have some fishy taste. We only have old herring barrels here, but rum stays rum. Enjoy!

[The phrase 'tast a little fishy' that you wish to use is actually coll. English! It means that "something is wrong with it." By writing the way I wrote it, it keeps that confusion away, emphasizing it really does taste like fish!]

UPDATE: Then my version sounds boring and ruins the flow? Second thought, I would stay with your version. I just wanted to point this curiousity out.

[But what the heck, maybe your phrase is good enough. In a way, it kill two birds with one stone. I will leave it up to you and others opinion. Your version has a better 'flow' to it, even though it does run into that phrase thing. The next sentence does clear it up, it says the rum was in herring fish barrels.]

DIA_Addon_Samuel_Stronger_LousDoubleHammer_14_01
Don't make yourself miserable shorty. I hope it's not for yourself.
Don't make yourself a miserable shorty. I hope it's not for yourself.

#I hope it's not for yourself; it will quickly make you miserably drunk!

[Typo. 'miserable shortly' not a sad short person 'falling down drunk']
[If not, the I would say it anyway to clarify it.]

?Don't make yourself a falling down drunk. I hope it's not for yourself.

DIa_Addon_Samuel_Stronger_LousDoubleHammer_14_02
(ferocious) YES! That let's the spirit dance!
(ferocious) YES! Then let the spirit dance!

[spirit here is not a ghost but 'liquior' is known also as 'spirits'. Dance is a excited word play ''Drink it up and makes your throat burn" You do the 'dance' after drinking a strong shot of liquior. Spirit dance is a play on words.]

To clarify : @(ferocious) YES! Then drink up the liquior!

??(ferocious) YES! Then let the liquior dance!

DIA_Addon_Samuel_Trade_14_01

I provide everything a pirate needs to survive!

You are alright. Here, we'll have a drink on the house!
% ?

{ I haven't played that part yet, but they sit on the house and drink? }

@You're a cool dude. Here, we'll have a drink on the house!

#You're alright. Here, we'll have a drink on the house!

[No. ]
["have a drink on the house!" is another coll. English phrase. It means the drink is free. The tavern gives the drink for free. Thus the phrase: "It's on the house." means a business is giving away a sample of something for free.]

The hardest part of English for non-native speakers is all these colloquial phrases. And German uses them also to great confusion. All languages do, I would venture to guess.

Tastes suspicious .... didn't you find it odd? The expression to which you are referring is "sounds fishy" or "smells fishy".

My version is a pun. Both meanings work in this sentence. Either way is fine with me, nevertheless.

[I do agree, your version is better.]

As for the let the 'spirits dance', I understand it, and if you like it, and others understand it too, then it is good enough for me.

I can look over Emirrit and Henry, posted here later; a cursorary glance seems you got it corrected well enough.

Hey, so far, so good!

What happened with that one phrase awhile back. The 'houses are increased'?

I meant to show that they mean the houses are 'high up in the air' (altitude). As located upon a high bluff or mountain. It can also mean that they are huge in size, but I think the whole sentence used them as "The houses sit high up in the air, there is an entrance at the top of a long stairway leading up to it, with giant columns lining the way."

Who was that? I do not know if it was ever corrected. Water mage? I don't remember.

Yes, I could tell the meaning from the sentence. It's just that, at first glance, the preposition "to" seems to lead to nowhere. I understand it leads to "acquaintance"; however, it would be impossible for me to do such a job within two seconds (i.e. when I'm playing the game).

(exaggertedly modest) My, I am not the kind of acquaintance, a good sir like yourself is accomodated to.
???

Yes, I could tell the meaning from the sentence. It's just that, at first glance, the preposition "to" seems to lead to nowhere. I understand it leads to "acquaintance"; however, it would be impossible for me to do such a job within two seconds (i.e. when I'm playing the game).

[This fancy, flamboyant talk can confuse people unless they are very well versed in English nuance.]

Maybe make it simplier by reverse the sentence:

#(exaggertedly modest) My, a good sir like yourself is not accomodated to my kind of acquaintance...

___________________________________

As for "some of the buggers"... are you referring to only "some of the" or the entire phrase? If you are referring the former, then consider the following line:

DIA_Addon_Garett_Samuel_09_04
Some of the lads here aren't exactly welcoming to new boys, if you know what I mean ...

I actually like the use of "some of the" here as Garrett knows who the lads are.

In the end, it does not matter, we tend to use alot of slang in English. We tend to say "some of the buggers" instead of more proper English 'some buggers'. If you like the proper version better, it will be understood by everyone.

Garett

[I can offer some suggestions and comments]

DIA_Addon_Garett_Anheuern_09_03
I'm staying here and look after the supplies!
look => looking

{ Or ... "I must stay here to look after the supplies!" }

[Your correct. He is a trader in goods, he must stay there to watch over his supplies.]

DIA_Addon_Garett_Hello_09_01
I am Garett. If you happen to need anything, come to me first.
Garett => Garrett

[Yes, that is the most correct common spelling in English.]

DIA_Addon_Garett_Hello_09_02
I can get you almost anything. Wine, weapons and much of the other things people need.
anything. Wine => anything: wine

{ My dictionary states that "wine" can be BOTH countable and uncountable, so I'm not sure about plurality. }

[Correct. Both the plural and singular form of 'Wine' is 'Wine', the same.]

DIA_Addon_Garett_Warez_09_02
Unitl recently, he used to sell considerable amounts to the bandits.
Unitl => Until

{ "amount" is uncountable; however, my guts tell me this is correct. }
[Correct, but we definitely here would use *amounts* in colloquial English.]
[ But the proper English usage of this word is as follows.]

#Until recently, he used to sell a considerable amount to the bandits.

DIA_Addon_Garett_Greg_09_06
Greg, the bastard, took it off me, of course.

{ Not sure if I should [off => off from]. Sounds better but wordy. }

["took it off me" is slang. It means stole it from him using force. Since it is slang, I leave the phrase as *took it off me* because *took it off from me* is not the slang phrase being employed here.]

[It is best to leave it as it is with the slang. Else, it must be spelled out to make sense. "Of course that bastard Greg took it from me." ]

#Of course that bastard Greg took it from me.

This works if you like this version without the slang.

DIA_Addon_Garett_Tips_09_01
Greg told me once death was watching over my compass and then laughed at me.

{ Here is my first interpretation of this sentence:

@Greg told me: Once death watches over my compass, then Greg will laugh at me. }

?Greg told me once, that death was watching over my compass. He laughed at me afterwards.

{ However, mine is extremely choppy. Hate that. }

[It is slang again. A play on words. It means that 'fate (his death) is watching over him (his 'direction' in life). That is where the compass reference comes into play (plus pirates ride in ships). Greg then laughs immediately after he said that just to spook him (Garrett).]

#Greg told me once, death was watching over my fate, and then he just laughed about it.

DIA_Addon_Garett_Francis_09_05
The others just have a good day instead of working.
just have => are just having

#The others just party all day instead of working.

DIA_Addon_Garett_PERM_09_02
Since Greg left, nothing at all is happening here.
is => has been

@Since Greg left, no work has gotten done around here.

#Since Greg left, nothing has gotten done around here.
-----------------------------------------------------

On a second thought, can we swear in the mod?

[Yes, to a point.]

DIA_Addon_Henry_Palisade_CanHelp_04_04
UH! Get off your face, for all I care, but don't get in the way of my workers.
face, => face
?UH! Go [have sexual relationship with] yourself for all I care, but don't get in the way of my workers.
Xerxes712

I know what "get off your face" means, it's just that I like yours better.

[It would be a good time for a modest 'dirty word' to be put in there.]

#No offense, kid. I've worked long and hard for the privilege of this job, and have no desire to lose it.

{ Not sure if "privilege" is the right word. Maybe [privilege => honour to take]? }
[I would leave it. Privilege does mean 'honor, prestige'. It may sound odd to you?, but not to me, and it keeps the flow of the sentence. Privilege is that Bones had to be given that job, to earn that position, it is the most correct word to use over Honor, or Prestige.]

DIA_Addon_Bones_Francis_01_05
Of Greg, he does give a damn. Whoever doesn't step to it, gets a kick in the ass!
