Chronicles skin updates and discussions.

(Is it...? Seems it is.)

Surprise, surprise! We have a present for you, and only with a slight delay, after all it had to be imported from a land far, far away. What is "it", you wonder? It is . . .

A new forum theme! Yay!

It's called Chronicles and was made by Jakob Persson for phpBB2. It's a fairly popular, public skin, and you may have seen it elsewhere already. Its wonderful wooden/parchment theme make it a perfect addition to our forum skin collection.

To use it you have to go to your profile and select "Chronicles" as your board style. Naturally you can only do that if you're registered.

Enjoy!

Note: If you find anything quirky with Chronicles, please post your findings in this thread, as well as other bug reports, ideas, suggestions or general nitpicking. I've tried to make only small modifications and stay true to the original design of this theme, but of course that doesn't mean it can't be improved any further.

Not bad, but we've got this special skin here that's better. Some board resident put it together and adopted most every user request that was made. "Da Vino Tea" or something like that....

I like this theme! I do have one suggestion, though. The posts alternate between a light and a dark brown background. I find the dark brown background posts slightly difficult to read because of the "thin" black font used. Maybe not an issue when you're reading a couple small posts, but when you're reading several pages of posts, it could become tiring (for this same reason, the text we write in the posting screen is also slightly difficult to read).

nice, nice indeed. i only have to get used to the new colors for the administrator and moderator...

one suggestion: when you are on the main page of the forum. all the names (who is the moderator, who made the last post etc. etc.) are yellow. but the background is (almost) yellow too. maybe it would be better if the names were another color.

dte: Heh. Flatterer.
However, that skin you are talking about is not perfect either, and I intend to adopt user requests for other skins too.

goshuto: I'll go ahead and fiddle around with some alternate texture orderings.

Neo: Mm, maybe a darker color for the links would do the trick..

As far as I know most mods are missing from the new templates.

I just found out that links are pretty much illegible in this theme (on both a regular and a LCD monitor), as can be found out by trying to read the links in the 2nd and 3rd posts in this thread.

I like it but it doesn't feel like RPGDot. It will take some getting used to...

Fixed. The forum code worked for links when they were included in the url tags, but not for automatic, "made clickable" urls, because Chronicles uses a different style for bbcode links.
I've also finally fixed another small color bug regarding links. I hope..

I've finally gotten around to implementing the missing mods in Chronicles, namely gender, birthday and the warning system. So if you are using this skin and would like to be congratulated every once in a year, or if you just feel strange without sex, make sure to update your profile.

Question to mods and admins: The warning buttons are only on the "view topic" pages, right? Or is anything else missing?
