well lets see, i got to the gargoyle who told me the riddle about the box i need to find but my only problem is......WHERE IS THE BOX!?!? i tried giving him trinkets from the other boxes around the dungeon but nothing's happened. if anyone knows what box with "no hinges, lid, or lock" that he's talking about then it would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like its part of riddle from the "Riddle in the Dark" chapter of the Hobbit. A box with "no hinges, lock or lid" would be an egg.
FYI - the rest of the riddle in the Hobbit continues as "... yet a golden treasure within is hid". .... or something very close to that.
PS - I have not gotten to that part of the game yet, but thought I'd pass the guess on.

PERFECT! in case anyone else is wondering, it's a crystal egg guarded by two rooms: one with 4 invisible stalkers and the other with skeleton mages......crap, that'll be fun to mess with.
