Game Freezing at Save menu

Hi there, can anyone help me with this little problem...

For some reason, as soon as I have talked with the bowyer in town and accepted his "kill 6 wolves" quest then the next time I try to save the game it freezes at the save menu and I have to reboot my PC to escape from it.

On the few occasions is does let me save the game afterwards, the save appears to be corrupt and doesn't appear in the load menu (and file sizes in that particular save folder are much smaller than they should be).

If I *dont* approach the bowyer the game works fine. A little slow down in places but otherwise there dosen't appear to be a any problems and the game saves normally. It's only after that conversation that things seem to go wrong.

Also I've tried the experimental quicksave function but the quickload just crashes the game to the desktop, so I can't use that as an alternative. (It's also worth noting I have the latest Geforce drivers, Direct X, etc)

Anyone have any clues?

No, sorry. This sounds like a case for the official tech support forum.
