Is it my system or does the game run like shit when you enter the New Camps cave, where all the huts are? The frame rate doesn't drop below 20 when I enter but it looks like its running a 5fps. Is this just the graphic engine of Gothic or is it my pc?

Yes, this is a little bit problematic area.

But run like a shit?
Maybe it is your PC, maybe you do not describe it accurately.

If it really runs like that try this step by step:
-newest drivers for video/sound card
-newest directX
-change res./details/visible range
-defragment HD
-reinstall win
-throw your PC out of window and by Athlon1800+, GForce3Ti500 and 1024MB DDR

Your machine looks okay. If you donīt have visual problems leave all your drivers like they are.
An idea might be to free up more RAM to avoid swapping.

That happened to me a couple times, usually right after I entered a new chapter. Don't buy a GeForce 3, wait for the 4's.

When your in the New Camps cave where all the people sleep and trade goods, the game looks like its in slow motion. The frame rate does not skip but when I press and hold the arrow to look around, the game looks like its working at 5fps. I have the fps showing in the top right corner and it doesnt go below 20fps. This leads me to believe that it is the game. Everywhere else in the game it runs farily nice, its just in that one cave. I have tried hundreds of different drivers as well as different resolutions but it still looks like its in slow motion. Does anyone notice this as well? If not, what should I upgrade too, a 1.2 tbird or 256 more ram? By the way, the guy that said for me to get a whole new system is a fuckin moron. If you read my specs above you would know that I am very well off. I bet your the kind of guy that buys a new cpu each time there increased by 50Mhz.

I would prefer a RAM upgrade. The old rule is still valid: if you want to upgrade double your specs. So stay with the cpu until you can buy something like an XP2200+.
