i joined the magicians of fire and now they are all dead. i am only at the 4th circle of magic. is that as high as i will be able to go now ?

I'm still in Chapter 1, but from what I've seen on the boards here, you should now go to the New Camp, where you can join the Water Mages. Not sure what you to have to for them, but I think you're fine.

I am also interested in this question. I now have the option of joining the fire mages or the guards. I'd rather join the mages and work on mana instead of strength/dexterity.

yeah you can go and join the magicians of water, they'll teach you the 5th circle, then you have to find xardas, good luck getting to him, make sure you have some sort of mace
i joined the mercenaries then the magicians of water if that helps you at all
