Can someone please explain how magic works? |
|
I printed out the pdf file on this site but didn't see anything much on magic. I have 3 Runes (whatever they are called) 2 in my little book of magic and one in my inventory. I tried making the shapes wile holding shift and finally a little symbol popped up on the screen. So I clicked it and it looked like he was doing something but nothing really happened. I don't understand how this is supposed to work...... _________________ My PC: P4 2.4c GHZ, ABIT IS7-E, WEST. DIG. 80 GB, 512 MB PC 3200, ATI 9800 |

When you look in your spell book, you see the spells that you are able to cast and the runes that you have. Most spells consist of two or three rune shapes that you have have to "draw." You need to hold down the Control key (not the Shift key) and the left mouse button while drawing the shapes of the runes on the screen with the mouse. Keep the Control key down while you draw all of the spell's shapes. When you are done, release the Control key to cast the spell. Some spells cannot be cast until your character has advanced to a certain level or obtained enough mana points.
Sometimes the shape to draw can be a little confusing. If you have trouble drawing the rune, open your spell book and click on the image of the rune. You will then see a sample of how the rune should be drawn.
If you have trouble remembering which runes to draw for a particular spell, click on the icon of the spell in the spell book and the spell's rune sequence will appear in the upper right corner of your screen for easy reference.
You can also "save" or precast up to three spells for use later by drawing the shapes as described above and then pressing the Shift key before you release the Control key. These precast spells are activated using the 1, 2, or 3 number keys on your keyboard.
To move a rune from your inventory to your rune book, you can drag its image into one of the trays on the screen that displays your character. Or, I think, you can point to it with the cursor and press and release the F key.
All of this is pretty well covered in the manual. It takes some time, however, to digest it all. |

Thanks. I played a little last night and figured out that I could start a fire. I missed that somewhere along the way. But again how would I know that making those shapes would start a fire? I didnt see in the magic book where it said "fire" or anything like that. Also I tried to put new rune I found in the book but it won't let me. Oh well. I just need to play with it I guess. Thanks again. _________________ My PC: P4 2.4c GHZ, ABIT IS7-E, WEST. DIG. 80 GB, 512 MB PC 3200, ATI 9800 |

Hover the mouse over a rune in your inventory and press F to put it inside your book.
And "Lighting a fire" in the game is called "Ignite", and it's on the first page of the magic book. _________________ JoWood Gothic & Arx Fatalis Moderator.
