Game freezes when entering the Sleepers Temple

This is the 2nd time Iv played the game . I had no big problems the first time, played it right to the end. I had to re format the hard drive, so Goth got re installed.the game was running fine untill I tryed to enter the sleepers temple. It starts loading, then locks up about 2/3 the way through the loading. I can't evin get the task manager in Windows2000 to come up so I can close it down.I have to reboot the computer. I'm running 2 operating systems on two diferant hard drives, win98 and Win2000. I loaded the game in each system and it dose the same thing in both.Has enyone out there had the same problem and fixed it? Thanks for any help.

First, you should run gothic under win98..
About the problem, try ripping the gothic cds to hdd(with cdspace, for example) with strict error skipping rules. This way you'll know if there are bad sectors on the cd, which could cause such a problem. Also try cleaning the first cd before installation.
I doupt this would help, but do try. Sometimes the most banal thing is the answer.

This isnīt one of the common bugs. I fear that nobody here will be able to help you.

You could install the game on another PC and copy the savegame. At least this shows you if the CDs are okay (and if your installed Gothic should be okay).

Having similiar issue i think.

I'm at the part where I'm to go in and confront Cor Kalom and the Templars... the game shifts into a cut scene showing them but it always crashes there. Not sure what to do at this point.

Any ideas?

Is it a movie or a in-game cutscene?
