You should most certainly try it! Very good system, intriguing story...

Best RPG ever goes to.. Wasteland. Great story, the best character development system ever (only game that comes close to it is Morrowind), really interesting npc's, an athmosphere that has never been beaten since and really well balanced mobiles and equipment. It had some very hard to solve puzzles too.

The best new RPG I have played goes to.. Gothic. If it had been longer, less linear (in the last chapters) and had more options to develop your character it would be the greatest ever.

The best new TECH RPG I have played is Deus Ex. Some say it's not really an RPG because you can play it as a shooter. But it has puzzles, experience points you can divide on different skills, augmentations (that work like attributes almost.. strength for example..), lots of interesting npc's, sidequests and a very intriguing main story. To me it's even more of an RPG than Morrowind!

Weird thing

My mom (!) bought a Fallout & Fallout 2 box to me this year as a birthday gift to me. Isn't that weird? I haven't had time to try them out yet..

I wonder if she's secretly reading this forum..? Hi mom?

Best of it's time: Might and Magic (the first one)

Best of All Time: Hard to say, but the first Baldur's Gate has to be up there. I realize BGII and Torment had deeper stories etc, but the first BG paved the way...

Best of its time: hmmmm... dunno since I'm not a true RPGer.
Best of all those I played so far was Gothic though (even if it's another hybrid ). Runner up, Daggerfall (I'm not very far into Morrowind yet so I don't know if I'll like that one better).

I refuse to play Morrowind.......but I don't know why? Maybe because I first heard about it when I came to these boards flying Gothic's colors, and they are like rivals or something......

Hmmm... is that a valid reason for not playing it? I don't really see why one shouldn't play one game just because one played the other first, and the folks who play it try to get hostile...

I loved Daggerfall all those years ago, I like Gothic a lot better, and I'll see if I'll like Morrowind as much.

Ultima VII, Daggerfall, Fallout. In that order

Ultima VII is just the best game I have ever played.
Daggerfall, I don't remember how many random dungeons I've crawled. Behind the bugs and the randomness, this game really had something.
Fallout: I would concider theis game better than Daggerfall, If only it had a skill based system instead of an experience based one. Non-fighting characters just can't level up fast enough to be confortable in the game. I'm completely stick because I have to kill some Deathclaws. Of course I had the choice to lie about me killing them, but I'm just to honest to do that

Hmm since everyone else is listing more than 1, I guess I'll post my second choices too.

2nd best RPG of it's time-Shining Force 2. This was one of the first RPG's I ever played and enjoyed because it was released at about the time I was old enough to actually play through an RPG and understand it. On top of that it's just got a good story and neat battle system.

2nd best RPG of all time. Grandia 2. WOW. This game has the best story of any game I've ever played. Mainly because it is constantly unfolding and the characters are always developing. Combined with the graphics, original battle system, and cool as hell main character makes this game a diamond in the rough.

Jaz:

If you liked JA2, i hope you have allready played JA2: Deidranna Lives & you're waiting for the JA2: Urban Chaos to get done. Not to mention that Strategy First just purchased franchise to JA & Ian+Linda Currie are just a part of the team that got hired from the remains of Sir-Tech. So JA3 is a coming

Hm, thanks for the tips!

Still, I have just enough time to play the bare necessities, i.e., Morrowind right now. And I'm not even through with JK2 and Renegade yet! Mind you, I'd love to play more often, but... i just don't seem to have the time to do it anymore...
