I'd hope so, but since it's coming from Bethesda, I'd say we'll be lucky if we get to run it a month after the release without crashing, or having our pc fall through the floor.

Also, Gothic themes are mature and kewl, while Morrowind got downgraded for teens rating. So, the jury is still out on this one...we'll see.

Extremely unlikely. A Gothic quality program comes along only once in a blue moon.

I certainly hope it does. I always hope that the next RPG will be better than the best so far. And from all what i have seen from Morrowind by now, there are chances that it will be the next step in RPG's. IF the game mechanics are superb, there will be no way Morrowind can fail. Because: if you don't like the story, you can build your own with the editor.

Actually, I am looking forward to the editor as much as I am to the game itself...

I sure hope it does. Im done with Gothic, best game I ever played, but I dont want it to be the the LAST great game I ever play. Gothic will definitely be my new standard on how 3d crpgs are judged by, but Im also hoping that each and every game I play after it will try and beat it

I'm hoping that Arx Fatalis, Morrowind, and Never Winter Nights will all stand to 'wipe the floor' with Gothic. That won't change my opinion of Gothic, but it's exciting to have so many (hopefully) quality CRPGs on the horizon.

Yes, I think so. Much more freedom and much deeper in the character building department.

I would not use the term 'wipe the floor' even if Morrowind will be better.
I welcome every game that evolves the Outcast-Gothic concept of a living immersive game world.

But I also see a downside to this development. While the game worlds become more and more complex the makers will have to limit their work to specific fields.
They will use a few standard engines and probably predefined object libraries. So I wouldn't be surprised if future games of this kind will have a similar look and feel.

Knowing Bethesdas last efforts they'd be better off making wax floor cleaners.

Well so far Morrowind owns Gothic in the visuals department. We'll have to wait and see what they do with the game itself before we make any assumptions.

I agree that one.

I think everyone is *hoping Morrowind is going to be a block buster. But, be realistic, look at the trash that Bethesda has made, Arena was full of bugs, Daggerfall was the Tanya Harding of role-playing games, Battlespire (I don't know anyone that ever completed that piece of crap) and Redguard, well that was buggy too, the character would walk thru walls or get caught in the middle of walls, etc. Face it, if Morrowind doesn't float, Bethesda sinks. And all the king's horses and all the king's men won't be able to put Bethesda together again. Very simple. Not pleasant; but very simple.
*I'm hoping I win the lottery (but I know I won't)

Allways the same. Red_dog_1515 starts a worthless thread and everybody jumps in on it.

I'm not sure about Morrowind myself. Bethesda had to cut out alot of content to make it acceptable for the Xbox version. PC version is exactly the same as the Xbox version, besides the interface and editor.

I hope it's better than Gothic, but with what others have said and my experience with past Bethesda games,I have my doubts. I still have nightmares of Redguard.

I guess we will know how good it is soon. Will have to be a great game to top my Gothic experience.
