Hi guys! I'm new here. I downloaded the English demo a few days ago and I noticed a really strange tech problem. Here it goes:

The problem is that I don't see the special effects! Like the fire effects from torches or fireballs. Like the effects that you have to see when a smith strikes hit blade. Like the shadow effect. Like the blood effects etc.
The strange thing is that the game 'thinks' that (let's speak about the torch) the fire from the torch is BEHIND the (lets say) mountain on the background. So when I stand close to the torch and look up, I can see the, what is supposed to be, small flame from the torch coming up from behind the mountain in the background. It's just like that small fire is a HUGE fire behind the mountain. It's VERY hard to explain and I just hope somebody understands. I can also see those effects when I'm looking streight down with the camera, looking at the top of my characters head... then I can see the effects in that view (like blood on ground etc.)
I have never experienced this before.. and I actually hope somebody who reads this has!
Thanks already.

I never heard about this problem.
You should post your configuration incl. driver versions in the troubleshooting forum.
Sounds like a driver issue to me.

Oh and my driver is Detenator XP.
System specs:
AMD Athlon 800mhz, GeForce3 Asus Deluxe, 256mb RAM.
I'm running on Windows 98.

Hi Vince,

I'm pleased to see you here! As for your question, I've not the slightest idea what's going wrong! What are your settings hmm... stupid question; all the max I presume! Can anyone else with a Geforce 3 tell us how Gothic's running on such kickass-card with the newest drivers! I'm going to look on the German forums to search for similar probs. See you!

Hi friend!
Yes you're right. Everything high! distance 300% and all that. Just everything high. Resolution is 1024xetc. though. I never change that. I'm very happy with that res.

Vince,

I've found at least four Geforce 3-users on the German forums with similar problems! No serious solution was given to them! There 're also probs with the Ati 8500-card! So I've sent an e-mail to Piranha-bytes mentionning the problem! The moment I'm receiving an answer, I'll post it here at once!

Bourrie, you don't know half how glad I am that you stick that much time in trying to solve my problem! I love you (in a heterosexual way )!

Oh and Bourrie... one total other question that's nothing about Gothic:
Doesn't the Rebelact forum works for you either? It gives me a "FILE NOT FOUND" error with the text "The requested URL was not found on this server. ".

I guess (and hope) not! A few weeks ago Juan mentioned that one of the upcoming days they were going to rebuild the whole site! Making it look nicer, better etc.
I really hope that this is the issue!
If yes it won't take TOO long I guess... I hope!
