Maybe because we can't speak and read Hungarian either?! _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

There's only in-country options at the website, so I sent an e-mail to them, (in hungarian) so I guess we'll find out. _________________ "Never argue with an idiot. He will just drag you down to his level and beat you with experience." ~Unknown |

I would have guessed that when the official expansion pack is released in english, there would be some sort of notice about it on PB site and definately on JoWood site, but I don't recall any. And now this hungarian site is offering such.. Needs to be checked whether it is in english and by whom it's done. Somehow I doubt that the release of this expansion pack would have gone through so quietly. _________________ Been there, done that . . . |

At the official forum they talk about that Hungarian release and that it works perfectly on the English version. It's logic that this is not posted on the PB side since they had nothing to do with the English addon. It's strange thou that they are no press releases from Jowood about this.... _________________ Gothic Credits

it is sort of hilarious that we can allready play german, italian, hungarian, french notr (i'm sure it has been translated to few other languages in addition to those above) but not english
This does not bother me anymore since i've allready played german notr, but i can't help thinking how inconceivable absurb this situation is _________________ The focused mind can pierce through stone |

French, Spanish, Czeck, and Hungarian are done in English voices, yet these countries don't speak english as thier primary language, and the countries that do speak english as the primary language wont get the english addon. Thats just feaking retarded. |

As per my post in the other thread, it must be possible legally to buy something in one EU country from another (probably compulsory under EU law in fact). I wonder if there is some agreement between the various publishers that is the reason why the Hungarian outlets will not make it available outside Hungary - if so this could be a breach of EU law. Anyone familiar enough with the trade legislation to comment?
Sorry to rant but the whole sorry episode of the English NOTR is a total shambles. If I treated my customers like this I would be out of business! |

Indeed...
As I understand it, ATARI US(A), has the publishing rights to the
international english version [ including addon ].
With a minimal understanding of american corperate law,
and even less of international corporate law, it is very likely
that the rights awarded to ATARI have begun to expire.
Foriegn ( to the USA ) Publishers have bought up those expiring
rights and have begun distibution to retailers. The retailers are under
the similar, if not the same exact, obligations not infringe on
continuing/existing rigts by ATARI. Thus publishers nor their retailers
can distribute the game outside their respective trade zones.
I am, of course guessing; but this is consistent with the
international laws that once protected 128bit Internet Explorer
when Microsoft first implemented secure browser protocols. _________________ ======================

According to an interview recently posted here on the dot, the add-on should be released within few weeks in English. |

I have said it MANY times........the devs did a great job....the pubs suck dingleberries.
Why in he!! would anyone reward the pubs by BUYING the english addon??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
They have taken incompetence to new heights, ignored their fan base for many months, and broken the simplest of customer service ideals.
You will NOT find a more loyal fan of the Gothic series than me..........period. But the gaming world should send a STRONG message to game devs and pubs.........STOP YANKING US!! The addon has been finished for SEVERAL months but they are to moronic to figure out how to capitalize from it....READ THIS PUBS..........release the dam game..........DOH!!!!!!!!! It's not making a cent sitting in your office, and EACH day the glory fades.
I mentioned sending the pubs a strong message, and I mean it. DO NOT REWARD indifference and incompetence! If you will buy a game after months of promises, they have NO reason to ever deliver on time! _________________ Chris: Dad, what's the blow-hole for?

Not really.
If noone buys it then they don't have any reason to release gothi games in english at all.
If alot of ppl buy it they might see that they make alot of profit by releasing english versions. |
