cool... but...

This is great news about a sequel, but I don't know why Levine had no idea that the second one was originally going to be 1970s style. I remember interviews with other designers who worked on FF who said that it was planned as a trilogy to begin with, with the second one being 1970s and the third one being contemporary (80's,90s).

Also, one of the main questions about modding that everyone wants to know is whether or not the sequel is going to make our current meshes and skins obsolete. Why didn't the interviewer ask that?

I think he was being coy about the change of direction. My guess is that after considering it further they decided that making the game "darker" might really change some of the elements that made it successful in the first place.

As for the meshes: I didn't think to ask that question but I did ask about modding support and specifically the ease of creating meshes. I was hoping Ken would give a longer response than he did which might have provided the answer to your question. Alas, it's too early in the project for the sort of answers I would have liked.

Despite the short/non answers Irrational were very helpful and promised more material further along the development. I'll make sure to raise that issue in a few months when I next talk to them.

I just hope the game would ship faster ...
It sounds cool already, but indeed better modding tools would make it even more worth the money.
