SoU characters playable thru NWN?

Since I had my PC updated and I lost all my saved games for NWN (and it's been awhile since I played it) I'm playing it again. I have SoU now too.
My question is; When I looked thru SoU's manual I saw these fabulous new prestige classes - am I able to select and play one of those characters thru NWN? Or are they just new characters for a completely 'new' game that's an add-on to NWN?
Also, when will the other add-on, Hordes of the Underdark, be available? Or if it is, where can I buy it - I've not seen it anywhere.

You can play a prestige class in any module. You just need to fulfill the requirements before you can select the prestige class.
Hordes of the Underdark is slated for a 11/18/2003 release.

Ohh, thanx for that. I think I'm going to have a much better time game this time around
Hordes will make a nice b'day present for myself then - I'll have to keep a watch for it on eBay though, coz by the time it gets to a NZ release it'll be 18/11/2004

HHmmmm.... I've been thinking, if my recollection is correct from playing the game last time, it really made no difference at all what character you played (I played a Rogue, as usual) because the foes and monsters still attacked, and I recall thinking I should've played as a Fighter or Barbarian 'coz I only got points for killing, not for using my stealth or hide or backstab, I only got points for opening locks and finding and disarming traps - which my Adventurer could've done anyway. I can't see the fabulous new Classes making much of a difference.
Any comments from those who've played it?

I rather like the Assassin. Blackguard is basically the opposite of a Paladin. Arcane Archer makes for an interesting ranged character. It certainly makes being a Bard nicer. Harper Scout isn't very interesting. I could see taking one level of Shadow Dancer to get the Hide in Plain Sight ability, but it's worthless otherwise.

But did the new Classes make a difference to the way the game plays? As I said, I can't see it happening.
Same with the original, NWN, the game surely plays the same no matter what class you play - you still have to have good kill skills, and that's all it boils down to.
I remember I loved this game the first time around - but it was only the second PC game I'd ever played (Dungeon Seige being the first, and that was just a hack n' slash) - but now I've played others I can see that the character you choose to play only makes a difference in VERY few games.
Is it going to be more of the same this time? HHmmm perhaps I'll give it a go and if it doesn't measure up to my expectations I can always uninstall and use the CDs as coasters.

The game upcoming that seems to be most like gothic or arx fatalis,
an rpg with action combat lets say, is dungeon lords. Single character 3rd person behind view. Seems very similar based on the news I got from this site. I think release is q4 2003.

Thief 3 also a little.

Conan also. A few more. I think this type of game is being developed a lot more actually.

I'm already watching for Thief 3's release
What's "q4 2003" mean, plz?
Conan. Hmmmm - like Arx and Gothic you say? Might give it a go then. But I can't say I'm into playing a Barbarian hack n' slash - is it going to be like that?

fourth quarter of 2003, October, November and December. In "game publisher speak", Q4 means they want to get it out in time for Christmas. About half of the games listed as Q4 usually slip into the following year.

Aahhh. Thanx for that dteowner. That's what I like about this site; I come here to check out the differing views on RPGs and hear the lastest games goss - but almost everyday I learn something new
Here's something I've wanted to know for ages. At the right-hand top of every page there's a "pic of the moment" - why have some of them got numbers instead of names?

That's a recurring bug that Myrthos keeps stomping on.
