Crashing to DT, any new ideas?

I know this has been beat to death in other threads, and I have read all here I could find, but with DD does anyone have any new tricks to try? I have plenty of ram, over 700, a P4, and an ATI 9800 Pro. I have reconfigured the game to direct draw, and the crashes seem to be only when I have done a lot of trading with someone or have played a long time, say 6 hours straight. I adjust the VM, and all other programs are disabled. I have WinXP. Just thought I would ask if any new solutions may be out there now. Thanks in advance for any help.

There's probably a memory leak in the game. Have you checked out Tech Support at Larian?

Also, is there a file called error.txt in the run folder of the folder where Divine Divinity is installed on your system? It might have some hints about the problem.

Thanks guys for the help. I have tried all. The only thing I did find I could change before playing is the Dx acceleration. I will try that next time I play and see what happens. These CtD's won't keep me from playing, just a pain. Thanks for the help.

@Cm,

I know the feeling, i had nothing but trouble trying to run this game, do you have the latest patch installed?, even that wouldn't work for me, only by doing a complete reformat and re-installing windows, and NO OTHER apps' did it finally run o.k, then it ran great, then ever so cautious i installed my app's, - -
- - - then, you guessed it it crashed out again, five times ive reinstalled, a am seriously thinking about building a second computer for "games-only"

@ Wulf. I did install the patch. I lowered the Acceleration by one notch and just play for three hours at a time and then clean temp files and reload and my CTD's have all but stopped. Don't know if it would help you, but it worked for me.

Hope it works for you. Just don't forget to reset when done. I did that and it messed up my other games badly. I forget I had adjusted it at first and was kicking myself when I did remember.

Sick, Sick, Sick, - - Crash! - Crash! - Crash!

Any normal person could be excused for giving up with these problems.
But not me, i never give up

So i did what i said i would do, i built a second pc-machine just for games, a real monster, now all my prblems are solved BD runs as smooth as silk.

It seams that BD does not like to be mixed in with, virus checkers, firewalls, and the like which we must have, othewise we get "bombed" with muck, spamware, trogans, spyware, back door men, etc' etc' :- -

Asus A7n8x-e /3200Amd(400) 1gb*2 paired infineon pc-3200/raided/data-tag+logical-address Ibm hard drives (with fix) then pseudo-raided again in win/xp. XfX5600fx video card/super-silent quadrafan case, ram-tubed cpu cooler, cost - - - - - - - £400.

Now back to the game.
