Just wonderful luck it always happens to the good games. Why doesn`t a lousy game like morrowind have publishing problems.
though looking at some of the titles jowood puts out. It's no wonder they are in trouble. |

sooo true! but what i have been wondering for the past few months is why the heck did PB not find a better publisher? surely better publishers than JoWood would have offered good money for gothic 2 right????
or is the world worse than it seems? |

I don't know anything about PB's publishing deal, but it's often not so simple as appointing a new publisher.
In many cases, the developer doesn't have the money to pay for 3 years development, so the publisher contracts to fund the development. So potentially PB can't just wander off - Jowood may very well have paid for the development so in effect, they either own the product or have rights to it that can't just be terminated.
When Bioware changed NWN from Interplay to Infogrammes, the ending was a happy one but I'm sure it was pretty complex behind the scenes. Bioware was the developer, but Interplay had provided some project management, some of the original design concept (see credits for Feargus Urquhart) programming resources (Interplay was responsible for a lot of the sound) and possibly things like testing, box-art and promotional work. An agreement needed to be reached where Interplay was adequately rewarded for these services. |

Morrowind has no problem getting a publisher because it is actually a good game unlike Gothic which no one wants to publish. and yeah I know look at some of those bad games jowood puts out, like Gothic 1...and Gothic 2... _________________ "It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible." |

How has a guy in South Carolina played Gothic 2? And Gothic was not published by JoWood.
Morrowind is a great game. And since the developers also happen to be the publishers, had not too many problems getting released. |

Gerad, Gish, stop it. I'm starting to get tired of all this game-bashing. _________________ Jaz |
