It ran pretty well on my machine. At the time it was not a high tech wonder either. I had a Celeron 300 with a Matrox G200, and a Voodoo 2. It was fun and easily playable on that machine.

This is the game I anticipate the most, right now. It almost seems too good to be true

The only negative thing I´ve found (but also a positive thing - since resources are fully allocated to singleplayer) is that there is no multiplayer. But I think that there is a lack of games with a singleplayer mod-community (everybody is just doing multiplayer-maps), and this will hopefully change that.

You can bet on that: the day Morrowind, NWN or Dungeon Siege are released, I will play them and then try to get a hold of the editors. If they allow enough flexibility, those editors will revive the genre...

Uh-oh... Ren with an editor. I can see the elven populations swarming now! NWN the Chock Full -O- Elves edition. Now with 30% more elves! I think mod kits are a great addition to games. I can't wait until they are fully utilized and easy to use. I have not used one yet, are they fully customizable? I mean can you essentially create a completely new game using all the graphics and sounds from the original? While I probably won't have any time in the near future to do one, I sure think it would be great to have a single game with 1000s of player done versions.

Great thread! I'm thinking of building a new system just so this game runs perfectly...

My question: Does anyone know if they're making GeForce 3 optimizations that will be worth spending the $250 on a new graphics card? I know they've said stuff about GeForce 3 before, but I'm wondering if the additions will be 'just bells and whistles' or if you will notice a global difference with the card (i.e. use of per-pixel shading, & etc.)?

I couldn't see spending that much on a GeForce 3 now... I would definately wait until ATI's next generation part comes out. Should be soon now. At the least it will create some GF3 competition to drive the price down a little. I think there is a pretty good delay time from when the technology is made available until game designers use it. If you were just going to do it for this one game, you could also wait until the game comes out to make your decision to see what they did with it. Its not like the price of GF3's are going to go up in the mean time or anything <:

Well, I didn't finish either predecessor game, Daggerfall was too bugridden and Arena was too repetitive, but I have to say that I found the combat quite fun. The dragging-the-mouse sword swings and thrusts worked for me. I hope they won't have people falling through holes in the dungeon floor like in Daggerfall...

I'm glad to see a section of MW here. I've been following the game from day one. I go to the forums a few times a day. I think this editor will be better than NWN and DS. It's the exact same editor that the devs are using to create the game. Everything they can do, you will be able to do also. And it is very easy. Even if you have no experience int hat type of thing. You will be able to pick up on it very easily. I see this game going on forever. I can't wait for it.

Eventhough I'm gonna be heavily involved in Dark age of Camelot when it comes out in october, I'll still be following this great game.

Well... I never played Arena, but was absolutely hooked on Daggerfall. I don't remember it being buggy, except for the ocassional fall in the void. I think Morrowind will be like Daggerfall in the sense that it's an open game, you do what you want to do when you want to do it. I prefer first person games all the time. One thing I don't like about Morrowind, is that some of the screenshots show some stuff really weird. I'd rather a more traditional fantasy setting.

Boy, I don't know what Daggerfall you were playing; but for me it was one of the most bug invested games I ever played. My computer would crash every 20-30 minutes during the game.

Note: It was also one of the best games I ever played too.

Bethesda has been using that editor for a couple of years and they haven't been able to meet any projected publication date yet.They just keep pushing the date back every three or so months.
I am more concerned with game play, as I don't have the knowledge or patience for working a game editor.

It's all speculation as the game isn't out yet, but I liked Daggerfall despite everything, I liked Redguard, and I'm devastated to hear that Battlespire was terrible (why, Rendelius? I never even saw it for sale, and I wanted that game so badly then)...

Here's what I think I'll like about Morrowind:

-the freedom of action
-the dreary landscape
-the fact of being on at least partially known territory
-fiddling with characters' looks (oh, how I loved the paper-doll dressing games in Daggerfall , I bought everything in medias clothes I could buy)

I probably won't like:

-the variant of Khajiiti provided as player characters... since I don't want to run around with a cat's head (I loved the elvish-looking ohmes of Daggerfall), I guess I'll end up as an Imperial, anyway.

Anyhow, I want the game.
