Questions about playing as a mage

Hello all.

I'm about to play as a mage and have a couple of questions about using my skill points.

1) Is it best to concentrate on 1 handed or 2 handed weapons?

2) What levels should I build my str and dex to?

Obviously, I'll do all this before I actually join the mages to save skill points etc.

cheers in advance.

I did not use usual weapons at all only magic.

2) What levels should I build my str and dex to?

you wont use dex. (if you are not a thief too)
dont waste your stat points to str. build up your mana instead.

As mage it's rewarding to be at least treined in one-handed fighting (especialy in the beginning of the game).

I know I'll mainly be using magic, but not that much in chapter 1, I guess, so did you not spend any points on 1h, 2h, strength or dex?

I've give myself 20str to use a sword I've just found, but I thought it might be useful to learn a bit of 1h or 2h. I know you get a quarterstaff when you become a novice, does that mean 2h is better for a mage?

Obviously most of my points will go for mana, in the long run.

When we are already talking about mana....how much mana can get/lern (through deferent chapters)? Or is it unlimited? I played G2 long ago, and can't really remember...I think there was a limit of 100 or more.....anyone have any idea?
Tnx!

I believe its possible to get in the 350-450 range for mana.
So I've read on these forums, anyway.

I reached 300 mana and I could have raised it more but I drank the elexirs of spirit in ch4 so it became harder to raise mana only on lp.But 300 mana is enough cause you can cast two rain if fire without recharging

If you're going to be a mage, until you get good spells, you can go for Strength + 1 Handed weapons, or Dexterity and Bows (1H Swords is better, IMO). DON"T go for two handed, it takes more LP for Strength, etc. Your goal should be to conserve as many LP as possible for mana and circles of magic.

So there are some tips about how to handle the bandit camp (where you have to do a lot of dueling) as a mage?

You don't need to spend any exp on mana. Because you got:

10 mana at the start of the game.
10 mana when you became a mage.
10 mana while eating the mushrooms(25).
10 mana from potion bought from Zuris(chapter 3).
40 mana for praying to Inos as a mage.
250 mana (25 sorrels and dragonroots x 10).
20 mana from potions found in VoM.
20 mana from potions in Irdorath Island.

So in total you got 380 mana and without spending any exp. I would spend all the exp on circles, runes and strength. Strength is needed in the first 3 chapters.
