Well, I was also going to post this topic, but you beat me to it
I don't think it's a joke, though I also only managed to get the "Ultima Underworld" homeage by cating UU or UW

Anyone had some more luck?

PS: I also did the "up and down three times" and something appears to happen (the game halts for half a second) but I cannot figure out what it is...
