I'm replaying the Ancient game of Stonekeep from away back in 1994 was it?.
It is fantastic, I'm so glad I dug it out again. I would really recommend you all try it, but be careful, it takes up a hefty 32 meg of hard drive space!.
The NPCS are total classics.

As buggy as it was, it was a fine game IMO . _________________ Jaz |

I played stonekeep. It had some memorable moments.
Though I always thought the presentation was a little odd... like the older M&M games where it was 3D, but movement happens one 'square' at a time.
Also, though I can remember the particulars anymore, I remember the final level being quite hard. _________________ The Poster Previously Known As NeptiOfPovar |

Stonekeep was one of my first computer games. I remember being completely immersed, and having a blast throwing things at goblins or something, but I never knew where to go or what to do. I remember at one point getting to some sewers or waterway with a dwarf, but having to return the game rental shortly after. |

Well I finished it last night, more than I managed the 1st time I played but now I have the advantage of the net and a Walkthrough.
I have to say it would be almost impossible to finish without one. |

My brother and I had alot of fun with Stonekeep.
I still wish that Stonekeep 2 had been completed and released instead of getting canned before it was finished. _________________ "Mr. Magee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

Totally agree with you there Hulk. You know what I think you'd like?,Devil Whiskey.
Try the Demo, it's very Old School but with nice graphics, if you like it you can get the full game direct over the netlike me.
Check it on devilwiskey.com I think. |

Another game that came out around the same time that didn't get as much media attention, but was a WAY better game IMO, was Anvil of Dawn. It was done by a company called Dreamforge that had a whole line of good first person RPG's back then, including Menzoberanzan, Stone Prophet, Ravenloft and Dungeon Hack. |

I *loved* Anvil of Dawn (I thought it was a New World Computing release). I played so long that I actually hurt myself through all the mouse clicking. Seriously! The pain started in my hand, and as the hours wound away, crept up my arm and into my neck.
The next day I could hardly use my arm .. but did I let a little thing like extreme pain stop me? Nope! A handful of aspirin, a beer and I was good to go for another 14 hour stint *grin* _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Both Anvil of Dawn and Stonekeep are listed among my all time favorites, along with Ultima Underworld, which BTW I am replaying in my iPAQ Pocket PC . (Being able to play your favorite game while sipping a coffee at the cofee shop, waiting in line to get to a movie, or even in the toilet is great!!!)
I remember playing the demo of AoD so many times until I finally got the full game!
Desdicado: What are the system specs of the cumputer you are playing Stonekeep? I've tried to play it in my Win XP Pro, ATI 9700 Radeon system but it fails to work. _________________ "You may win a thousand fights, but you can only lose one" (Zaknafein to Drizzt - The Dark Elf Trilogy.) |

I thought it was designed by Dreamforge and published by New World. I have no clue, I'm just disappointed I can't get it running on my computer. It's on Home of the Underdogs and if anyone can get it running on their XP computer please post how you did it.

If you go to the files section of HoTU (that's Home of the Underdogs, NOT Hordes of the Underdark *grin*) and pick up a copy of DosBox it should run. I've not tried Anvil that way yet, but it worked for a couple of others. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=
