anyone think high resolutions can be annoying actually and its little over-rated? even in games like Baldurs Gate, half life..etc.sure things look a little crisper but text in some games gets too small and you feel to far away or something |

There are several games where is game where is text independant on resolution (or maybe different font size for every resolution, so result is same size of text in all resolutions).
Example: Clive Barker Undying. |

But in most RPGs, yes scaling up the resolution often has bad results on the text. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

But I think that higher resolution often makes big difference in apearance of graphics. For example BG2. If you have 15`` monitor, you will probably not see big difference, but if you have 17`` monitor and you unlocke "not really suported modes" and set 1027*764 instead of 800*600, you will see big improvement. |

yeah, thats true. It feels to far away, and to small, it hard to play games like BG in anything higher than 1024x768... |

It really depends on your monitor Rawis. Try to play something in 800 * 600 on 21inch monitor. And try to play 1600 * 1200 on 15 inch monitor . |

I agree with Danicek. It all depends on the monitor you have infront of you. I have a 19" monitor at work, and there's a real diffenrence between the resolutions on games when I compare with 17" or even 15". _________________ I am what I want myself to be. |

I prefer higher resolutions ad you can see much more that is going on on the BG style games, and get much sharper graphics on 3d games. (I do have a 22in monitor and a graphics card that can cope with it.
Also on my laptop, the "Best" resolution is 1024x768, most text on 800x600 looks strange which is annoying as BG2 crashes on the laptop when using the unlocked 1024x768 resolution.

No. I think the higher resolutions are better, I can't wait for them to improve more. _________________ ''Perhaps I'm old and tired but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. I also think that using higher resolutions can slow down your game play (At least it seems that way for us poor people with 400 MHz PII's) _________________ I came, I saw, I cast Death Wish. |
