Memory: 576MB RAM so it is ok.

Did you try data integrity with verifidata=true?

Did you try to change setup, especially shadows?

Please note that " "

quick and simple

Things to try
1. go to www.rage3d.com and get the latest drivers for your card.
2. get rage3d tweak and try disabling the hyper Z or Disable Heir Z

I have an 8500 and it plays the game fine... but i suspect its to do with the heir Z

Verifidata=true feedback

I put that option on the command target line just like you had it. I did'nt see any messages or warnings. I guess thats good.

I will try the tweak tonight after work.

btw the game runs on my wife's eMachine. But the graphics is really chunky.

Questions her machine's DirectX release numbers start with 5.00 mine start with 4.XX she is running Win XP.

Is there a difference because of the OS?

Yes, it is probably OS. If you installed latest (or on CD) DirectX, than there is not problem in DirectX.

Created new problem!

When I disable Hierarch... Z abd Z buffer my mouse pointer had texture distortion around it. The disappearing and black blanking screen still came up. I don't know how to tweak this card. I uninstalled to get the mouse to look right.

I give up trying to make it work on the Compaq.

Thanks for all your time and help so far. Keep youe ears on and eyes open for any other possible fixes to my problem.

PS. I tried to do the MadOnion 3dMark2001 tests on my system. My system won't do the "Car Chase Game Test" ipion realtime ithink its called.
Does that ring any bells.

To solve this problem you can try add asynccursor=false after shortcut.

hmmm

i'm going to play with my graphics settings when i get home. but i'd keep the z buffer on. i use the "omega drivers" they are optimised to games and offer excellent performance in this game (got it to 1600x1200 at 60fps) so i'm mega happy. Also have you tried hyper z? i've seen issues with games like Project IGI. If you live in the uk I could help you. i'm manager of a computer repair shop.

Thanks Hokum for you suggestion and help. I re-installed the Rage 3D Tweak and leftthe Z buffer on but still have problems.

I wish you could help me, but I live in Illinois, USA.

Okay, my Black and White game is freaking out now. Must be my system. B&W is freezing when my creature is fighting. Hmmmm.

I GIVE UP on this Compaq..... Any one need a white metal, foot stole or oversize calculater????
