Well, Arcanum really has many balance problems, and poor grafics (especially being so unoptimized for slower machines) but despite this it is one of the best things I ever played.

I'll keep an eye out for it, I guess it'll be pretty cheap now (if I can even find it).

£4.99 from Amazon (UK). That is cheap. 1-2 week wait, though.

I am glad I am not the only one who feels that way. I really liked not only the concept and the character management, but the story as well. The graphics I could live with .. but the combat was a tad too easy.

I chose the Elder Scrolls series, but have only played Daggerfall, as I've heard mixed opinions on Morrowind, plus I've only recently upgraded my PC enough for it to be possible to play it.

Amen! It has more issues than you can poke a stick at -- but Arcanum has an interesting setting and a really good story. When I first bought it I was overwhelmed by all the negatives and stopped playing. At some point I ran out of games and decided to retry old unfinished ones and I'm glad I did.

Ha, talking about Arcanum problems! When I first bought it (bout February 2002) my PC it ran on my 1999 maschine, but how! It was so crappy that I could solve Maths problems while playing. This way after 2 weeks I finally decided to quit. I finished the game a year and a little later, when I bought a new PC.

I feel like an old record, but I chose the Gothic series again.

Just for the record:
I loved Arena and Daggerfall, but since I hate Morrowind and its expansions, I couldn't vote for that series.

I also loved both System Shocks, but since I'm too easily scared I just couldn't vote for them. System Shock 2 still haunts me in my sleep.

Deus Ex is probably the game closest to competing with the Gothics but since Invisible War.. Well, I couldn't vote for that either.

Ultima. I've played each and every one of them, from the first Ultima on my C64, to my newly purchased Ultima IX: Ascension on my high end PC. I have no idea why I didn't vote for them. Gothic must be damn good!

lol... I once sneakily replaced my friends' Windows error sounds with a great Shodan sample (saying something like "pathetic creature, must I do everything myself?" with plenty of spooky static), and also a baby coughing sound from Messiah. He wasn't at all happy.

I voted for KTOTB. Thats right, the New Kids were the greatest RPG ever. Especially Joey, who is so cute. Donnie is the Bad Boy of the bunch, and do like my boys bad. And how.

I forget what I reaaly voted for, but I didn't see other until it was to late or else I would of wrote in Realms of Arkania. Or maybe Micheal Jackson.

ROFL!... you nutcase

Not sure if I can edit the poll results (probably not, that could be considered corrupt). If it's possible, I could move your vote onto "other." Sorry, but I'm not creating options for New Kids or MJ. I know it's a hotly disputed topic, but I don't consider them to be RPGs.

My vote to PST

You can guess to what game have I devoted my vote. It is Planescape Torment. There is no other game to date, with a story more deep and drammatic.

Gothic. Never played the first, but the second installment rules.

PS:T and BG series are a close second and third.

I guess I haven't been on this forum for a while - just noticed the poll. I was torn between the BG series and the Gothic series. Gothic 2 is my favourite game over the last 12 months - a , wonderful game with all the elements I look for in an RPG. I also almost picked Deus Ex (the original, of course, not the sequel) because the game continues to fascinate me. But I have replayed the BG series so many times I guess I have to say it's my all time favourite.

Morrowind & Daggerfall are my faves.

Deux Ex1&2, Ultima Underworld1&2, Arx Fatalis, and Wizardry 8

I obviously like 1st person RPGs. I still need to find and play System Shock
