Poanus: Sure thing.. on lowest detail you can run it with 128, even though it will have a couple of problems here and there..

I have a AMD Athlon 800 mhz, 512 mb sdram pc133, Geforce 4 TI 4200 64mb.

I know that i don't need to worry about the graphics-card and the memory but i *do* worry about my athlon 800 mhz . Do you guys think i can play this game with a decent framerate?

With a low viewing Distance (100%-150% out of 300%) the Game should run decent in the Wilderness, but in the City of Khorinis ist will be choppy, unless you play with very low Details

800Mhz is enough, and with 64mb RAM you may play the game, although I would be more concerned about the RAM, than the Mhz.. I'd get at least 128MB RAM more.. it's pretty cheap.

Hehe, I re-read it, and then I saw the little "512" up there.. an 800Mhz machine with 512mb RAM, and 62MB graphics card won't have any problems, whatsoever, to play Gothic 2.

Well whenever I can get ahold of gothic Im going to try and run it on my laptop.

It has 256 mb ddr ram, 32 mb g4mx, amd 1800+

I hope it plays it suitably. The only thing I could upgrade would be the ram.

Specs

I have a 1G Athlon t-bird Processor, 768MB pc133 sdram, a geforce2 mx 400 64MB vid card, soundblaster live, and 60 GB free space on the hard drive. I hope that should be sufficient for gothic 2. I have had no problems with Gothic 1 except that when My Ram was at 384, I would get about a 2 second Lag every once in a while. I am hoping with the memory upgrade that will solve that. Let me know what you think?

Game specs

A lot will depend on the game how it reacts to different hardware upgrades. Take Jedi Knight II for example. It would generate almost the same FPS on any video card but was very hardware dependant. I would say upgrade an Athlon XP to 512MB of RAM and a min of a GFTi200 then see how it works. Older computers running 800mz processors should see if they can upgrade the processor in addition to the RAM. I wouldn't do one without the other unless you were running 128MB or RAM right now. If you do upgrade your RAM I reccomend crucial.com hands down as the place to buy. My system is currently: KT400 chipset. XP 1600. 256MB 2100DDR. Ti4200 128MB. The 128MB is overkill and really isn't needed. By the time it is needed I'll want a new card anyways. I will probably add another 256MB of RAM soon as my HD seems a little slow.

Processor

One way to check your processor capacity is to run task manager, performance while you play games. If your CPU is pegged a lot then you could benifet from a faster one.
