It couldn't happen. Bond fights ugly terrorists-of-the-day. Whatever the flavor of the week the minions are usually ugly. This is part of the fantasy of Bond that appeals to men: To be tall, dark, handsome, cultured, and at the same time deadly. A lot of action stars are 'scuzzy' (Bruce Willis, Hugh Jackman, Clint Eastwood) which is what sets Bond apart.
Everyone expects a female actor in an action movie to be tall, dark, jaw droppingly beautiful (unless she's supposed to be 'average looking' in which case she's merely beautiful), cultured, and deadly. She doesn't stand out: She's cliche. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

When I think of 'actress' and 'action movie' the first people coming to my mind are Cynthia Rothrock and Brigitte Nielsen ^_^.
You can tell I haven't watched many action movies over the last twenty years, can't you. _________________ Jaz |

*Has a sudden flash of Red Sonja dressed in a tux, ramming a claymore through a Bond villian's guts while her sidekick Arnold beats the crap out of tons of minions.*
Okay, now that would be an aweful Bond movie. But it would be comedy gold! _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

But it *would* be an awful Bond movie.
I can't imagine the rumor is remotely serious... though I put nothing past Hollywood. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

Well, we can stop speculating on who. Now we know who will be the next Bond. I guess its time to start speculating on whether or not he will be a good James Bond.
Of the films/roles listed to his credit, I have only seen Road to Perdition. He did a good job of making me dislike him. He also was able to hide any trace that he was actually English. However, he didn't strike me as having any unique qualities. Granted he was cast in the middle of stellar actors Newman and Hanks; nevertheless, I think that Connery, Moore, Brosnan, and even Dalton would have equal presence even in that company. I am not sure that Craig can pull-off the role. But perhaps if I saw some of the other things he played in I might be more convinced. I am rather skeptical, but as of October 14 2005, I am withholding my decision.
At first glance, judging from the list of people they were considering, it appears that they'ed had enough of negotiating with powerful actors and they wanted someone with not quite as much leverage. _________________ Always with you what can not be done. Hear you nothing that I say? - Master Yoda

The only movie I remember him in is the first Tomb Raider movie. He was all right in it, but didn't leave a big impression. Oh well, dye his hair and shoot him in a Bond flick, then let the result speak for itself. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!
