I don´t think so. It won´t run with playable speed without an upgrade. And if upgrading this old PC makes any sense is very doubtful. Buying a cheap new PC is probably more effective. Especially a 3 GHz CPU would be absolutely wasted. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Hi Rasta,
I kind of echo what Gorath said.
Assuming your video card is at least 64Mb, a 3Ghz processor upgrade would certainly run the game reasonably well, but IMHO a new graphics card would bring the most pleasing results especially if you can get one with 256Mb on board. (The Ati Radeon 9800 Pro - will start dropping in price soon now the XT's are out)
I dont think 327Mb would hamper you that much actually. I only saw a nominal increase in performance when I upgraded from 512Mb to 1Gb on my old machine.
At higher resolutions and detail, Gothic 2 is extremely graphic card intensive.

The new procesor will be fine. The memory is a little low but you should be able to get away with it.
You dont specify what Graphics Card you have. Thats also very important. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

RAM and mainboard won´t be compatible to a fast CPU. You also have to be careful with old graphics cards since some of them draw more power than the mainboard likes to be transfered through it. If the old power supply can handle the new stuff is also not sure.
Plugging a fast graphics card into your PC doesn´t make sense. The card needs a certain level of CPU power to feed it with data. You obviously don´t have it.
Win98 is also no longer ideal for newer games. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |
