The fix-it list

First off, in the main I love the game. But a few things that need to be tuned up here.

1st. The TEXT! Christ, this is awful! When in the hell will they learn that in text-heavy games the damn stuff has to be legible, and that means at ALL resolutions. If you don't have perfect eyes, and go above 1024 x 768, it's a nightmare. They NEED to give us at least the option of using a cleaner font.

2nd. The mouse cursor. Fortunately you don't have to use the cursor that much, but it bites. It's finiky as hell, and seems to be running in software mode.

3rd. The random desktop dumps. Not frequent, but annoying. At least with a GF2. And I've tried with both the 28.32 and the 28.90 drivers.

4th. The journal. This is a design issue, rather than a bug, but should be easily addressed in a simple patch. Give us a section to keep notes. SInce alt-tabbing crashes the game every time, and there is a ton of info to keep straihgt, I can't believe they didn't think of this.

5th. Can anyone tell me what time it is? There are time-sensitive quests in this game, and yet there is no way to find out what time it is. Huh? Looking out the window is fine...if it's not raining...or an ash storm...or in a dungeon.

That's about all I can think of, so far. All-in-all a great initial release, and a kick-butt game. Now lets hope they're listening, and get to patching!

They have an extra font in the data directory called century_gothic_big. I've only briefly experimented with it but it is a hell of a lot more legible at 1600 resolution. The options menu is screwed up a bit though. I'm not sure if anything else is.

Go into morrowind.ini and set Font 0=century_gothic_big and Font 1=century_gothic_big.

I think this really depends on size of your monitor.

This worked like a charm. Thanks much!

Regarding the monitor. I've got a high-end 19" Diamondtron, I think it has more to do with 45 year-old eyeballs.

If on 19 monitor is nothing visible in res. higher than 1024*768 then text is really small.

Would if I could, haven't been able to break into elderscrolls.com fopr allmost a week now.

btw...update on the small text fix. Be careful. It hashes not only the options menu, but the journal and a number of in-game books. I'm workin on this one.

The "Rest" window shows you the current time. Or you can buy a wristwatch.

Email them, my friend..

tech@bethsoft.com

I've been in contact with their cust service, and they are backed up right now (any surprise there??) but they are doing their best to keep up with user emails of bugs/complaints...

I guess they are scoping out issues to include in patch #1..
