Confused about NOTR

While reading a few threads about it I have a feeling I played it already long time ago but definately not in german.

How do you get to the addon world? Thru the old temple with the water magicians (blue robes)? I remember the water mages coming with me and studying the the ruins while I go explore the world, a beach with pirates, a canyon...

Can somebody describe the new addon world please?

You just did. You have to join the Ring of Water and do some quests for the water mages, then you'll travel to the add-on world. It's the place with the pirates, ruins, etc.

How could I have played it? Maybe at first there was only a text translation without the spoken dialogue?

You must have played the German version with the text translation.
