Highwayman
   

I do have a question, I was walking around in chapter 1, and I say a Highwayman standing in front of a ropebridge. I have no clue if you can sweettalk him, but with me that did not work at all. I refused to give him anything, and so he attacked me. Therefore I (naturely) attacked, and he seem to have died.. ... But doe sthis influence anything? Should he have stayed alive for any quests or so?
Also the quetion, when is the best time to deside what guilde u want to follow? I am in doubt between Pala or Merc. But when do u really have to make that choice?

about the highway man... he's useless...i didn't kill him in chapter 1 ut in ch3...
but if you don't kill him, the seekers do (becuase when you must find the eye of innos in ch3, tou must also go the that brigde. and there are 2 seekers there.

and first try to do allt he missions fot the militia and mercenaries before joining them, then decide wich one you will join.

i joined the mercenaries and i'm now a dragon hunter.
i really liked the mercenaries!

Yeahh I met the highwayman too and I just turn around becoz he looks suspicious I am still in chapter one and I didnt want to deal with him yet since he is sooooo far away from both Paladin/Mercs area. Afraid I might trigger something that I don't want.

I am in the same position deciding abt either being paladin and Merc.

Thanks for the advice.....I will try to do as much as I can with these 2 groups before deciding.

just fight the highwayman genghiskhan66, he's very easy and you will get 180 exp.
he fights with a heavy branch
if your in lv 4, you can handle him!

I agree with Neo_Genesis.

You can kill him easily.

I will try to give you advantages and disadvantages here.

Mercenaries :

DISADVANTAGES :

-To join you must be pretty strong. (Many fights)
-Pretty hard quests

ADVANTAGES :

-You get payed everyday. (How much is Onar's Descision)
-Dragon Hunters Armors (Real cool looking)
-You can become a shepperd (in a way.)
-Lots of Friends from Gothic 1.

Paladins

DISADVANTAGES :

-Hard to start (Thieves Guild, Swampweed)

ADVANTAGES :

.You get magic runes (Paladin Runes)
-Heavy Paladin's Armor (I felt real strong in that armour. Even i i wasnt)
-Lots of Orcs killing (Towards the end)

The Monastery :

DISADVANTAGES

-You need a lot of Learning Points. (Because you need 5 LP for each rune)
-Hard Test of Fire. (If you aren't prepared)

ADVANTAGES :

-Easier killing Dragons (Long Range)
-Magic Learning
-Good Start Quests. Something Real Life.

Well i sure missed many of them (ADV., Disadv.) but that are few that fell in my mind when i was writing. I hope ot helps.

wel... you can put the many fights (merc) in advantages...

becuase you will get much exp becuase of the fights... and the only tough fight is against bullco.. fester, raoul, sentenza and rod are easy!

Yea someone would look it as advantage and someone as disadvantage.

I was very weak at start so i hardly knocked out anyone. But as always you are rigth.

You forgot about the 1000 gold and a sheep... (as a mage..) and as marc i didnt get payd every day.. i was a marc for weeks (in the game time) and i was payed only once... (onar is SOOOO cheap!)
I love all the armors/robes beside the dagon hunters armor and marc armor...
thats all..

beginning as a mercenary i was strong with bow and weak with melee, so every time i had to fight i shot my opp a few times and finished him off with the sword that worked pretty good, only fighting with sword was not working
