Comp crash after Install and update |
|
I've bought NWN and installed it yesterday. That went fine.
Updated it with the auto-updater, no problem.
Then I wanted to play and I got an error msg, forgot exactly what, but something of NWN didn't go allright.
I had to reboot my comp because it froze up and then I couldn't get back into windows anymore.
I actually had to format the C drive and install windows (and LOTS of other things) brandnew!
Is this a known problem? Any advice on how to proceed when I try to install NWN again later this day?
Myself I was thinking that I reboot my comp, install and update NWN, then reboot again before hitting the play button.
Any thoughts are welcome |

Did you do a full scan of your hard drive, including surface scan? Cause this sounds similar to what happens when key parts of your Windows system .dlls become corrupted. When you reformat, they are always rewritten to the same place; so what I do when I lose a .dll is, prior to reinstalling, a complete scan of the HD, so that the computer can log the bad sectors and stop writing to them. This is for future reference.
I wish you luck. _________________ "It has been a grand journey- well-worth making once."

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode. I think it was called, "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."

Before you reformat, now that you've installed everything, you might as well do a full scan. There might not be any bad sectors, and I would hate for you to have to reformat for nothing. _________________ "It has been a grand journey- well-worth making once."

Also, if after doing a full scan and do not find any problems, please tell us your config (CPU type, amount of ram, Windows version, etc...) so we may be better able to help you _________________ =Proud Father of a new gamer GIRL!=

It now works! Thanks for the help
I did a thorough scan of the C drive and installed it there. (last time it was on my D drive and that needs to be de-fragmented)
So the problem is solved and I'm a happy gamer again
Thanks again for the input! |
