I am on the Saturas quest to find Xardas and I carry a Heavy Crossbow and a Berserker's Sword. Dressed in a Heavy Mercenary Armor and a Water Robe. I have some 15K Ore - are there any real good things that I can buy for this ore in the game? Looks like I made all that moneys for nothing
I also bought the best rings and amulets from Cronos and found most of the artefacts.
BTW: No cheating was involved, just good money management.

Trade in your heavy crossbow for the crossbow of war.

There is nothing really require you save ore for in your stage of the game.
Like the other reply, trade in for a better xbow will be nice. But for the rest of your money. The only thing really cost you are the summon monster scrolls. Buy them and summon them to follow wherever you go. When it get boring, kill them for xp. |

I would say, buy some magic runes. There expensive, and it's always fun to have them around, when you need them. |

Crossbow of war is, IMO, the best option as well. Either buy one from Scorpio (after all, you don't need the ore) or beat up Scar for his.

What merchant has it? I checked with Sharky and Wolf, also with that guy who is now with Cavalorn - they do not have anything better then Heavy Crossbow.

It's a good idea to buy the spells but killing the allies is not for me! |

Jaz, the problem is that Scorpio (now I remembered his name) does not have the xbow of War!
And the OC is locked by now - I can't reach Scar.

Scorpio and Wolf both sell the Crossbow of War in chapter 5... at least they sold it everytime I was in chapter 5.
You'll also be able to enter the OC sometime into chapter 5.

Scorpio defects from the OC. He didn't agree with the OC policies concerning fire mages.

Just because you don't like someone doesn't always mean you'd like to see them all mercilessly slaughtered.

Personally I never used Ore. I used stuff to buy stuff, and if the prices didn't match up I just took extra ore back ore or arrows or bolds. The greatest skill in the entire game is lockpicking. If you join the OC and you have two skill in lockpicking you can gain access to the giant tower that peirces the horizon almost everywhere you go. There is roughly 30k worth of junk in there, after I looted that place I stopped having any money problems.
Then by chapter 5 I was so powerful that when I got the chance to reenter the OC via the fire wizard rune I slaughtered every single person in the camp and took every weapon, item and peice of ore they had, including all the stuff I sold to them. Then I came back and killed all the rogues in the NC. That's what I hated about this thing, around level 36 there aren't enough things left to kill to raise you level anymore. I soppose if I had gone to the trouble of killing all the mercs the blue mages and everyone in the SC I might have gotten to 37 or 38 but that's about it.
Anyway, the point was, don't waste your money, kill and steal your way to the good loot. All ore is for is armor because of how you have to purchase it. Oh and don't waste your skill points on stat augmentation. By the end you'll have gotten so many str, dex, int, health, and mana potions you won't have to worry about it. If you don't and you don't purchace pickpocket you can max out every weapon, lockpicking and make it to 6th circle in magic, at around level 36. Skinning and declawing/toothing skills are necessary to finish. |

Wow, that'd be a great philosophy of life:

Kind of a sidenote, you don't need lockpicking at all. I picked every chest described above without ever spending a single xp on it. You can pick just fine without LP skill, just use a pencil.
