The Old Mine won't open

Hi there!

I played Gothic yesterday the first time and because holidays I played a lot of time without a break.
With me, my best friend is playing. He bought the game some time before. Each of us is running the game on a different PC, so we could ask the other for hints.

He got in the Old Mine near the New Camp very early. I'm still trying - about a half day later. The Mine Door is closed and I don't know how to open it. I walked through the whole "world", trying to find anything interesting. I'm in chapter 2, my friend got into the mine in chapter 1.

What am I doing wrong? I talked to everybody who has a name in the game, but noone said something about the mine, except the ones who want me to do quest in there...

Could you help me?

Did you touch the winch in front of the mine?

old mine

I was able to get into the mine (even though the gate is closed) On the right side of the gate, just on the inside of the gate, there is a chunck of ore. Get as close as you can and when the ore "lights up" press your "use" key and you will shoot through the gate! You MUST have a pick-axe for this to work. The only problem is that I can't get out!!! There is a piece of ore on the other side of the gate but I can't get it to light up. does anyone know how to open the gate??!!

This a small bug. You can solve it with our cheat guide:
1. activate Marvin Mode
2. open the console
3. use the correct command from the FAQ page.

Now the gate should reopen.

Yeah, I used and moved the whinch. I simply can't figure our why my friend opened it, and I can't. And I didn't use cheats until now, so I don't know the correct FAQ command. Let's see if I can find it.

Shouldn´t be a problem. There are only 3 commands to open certain gates in Cheat Guide/FAQ.

Simply didn't work. After an OK in the Console, nothing happened. I got in by lighting the iron. Getting outside now is a bit trickier...

The command is
zTrigger OldMineGate

You can teleport 2 meters forward with k while in Marvin Mode. Press F8 to readjust to ground level.
