OK. So I've done everything right as far as I can tell: got the key, stone of power and dwarf meat from the dead dwarf and gone into the smasher room, powered up the machine and placed a chunk dwarf meat under the smasher. But will the creature go for the meat? No. What's going on? Am I missing something? Is there something I can do to entice the creature or another way of destroying it? |

I think you have to be hiding in order for it to work. Maybe if it can see you it doesn't care about the dwarf flesh. There's plenty of shadows right by the lever.
I haven't actually tried it but there may be a way to skip this part. But describing it would give away what happens after you crush the beast.
And why can't I cook the dwarf flesh and eat it? Damn game developers forcing their morality on me! |

First off Welcome to the Boards. Now you didn't say if you are Xbox or pc verion. If pc then get the patch and install. If you have tried all else and still can't get it to move, you can try to outrun him into the office and open the lava pit and run around and get him to fall in it. Then he is dead and you have the points. If you have a save game from before this room, you can reload and see if he will go to the right spot. Try going around the room on the catwalk and get him to start moving for you. Also go down the ladder and up again as soon as he moves, then see what happens. Smashing him is only to give you the extra time to get into office and so on. It does not kill him. Just stuns. Hope this helps.

Sorry for not having got back earlier. I thought I had.
I eventually got lucky and managed to bash it as it was walking towards me (as far as I can remember). Took a long time. Very irritating.

Welcome back. Glad you got him. There were a couple of things like this in the game that I thought they could have done with out.  Hope you finished by now.
