my game crashes at the sleeper

ok i get to the sleeper right, i kill all the obsessed novices and all that, so its just me and the sleeper, i have all 5 swords, and i put them in, but when i get to the last pillar, just after i have stuck the sword into the heart, my game crashes. ive tried different orders of sticking the swords in, clockwise, counter-clockwise, middle and out, everything, but on the last pillar, whichever order i do it, the game crashes.

by the way i have also completed the "strange sword" quest and got it charged through the ore mound, there are no more quests for me to complete.

i tried doing the marvin mode play video thing but it didnt work, it just came up with "unkown command - PLAY".

Hey there Shadow_Clown87,

Try this, In marvin mode type:- play video
followed by one of the following:-

CREDITS
EXTRO
GREATPRAYER
INTRO
LOGO1
OREHEAP
PLAYEROUT

The last one is obviously the ending video, if it doesn't work then your video set-up is suspect, good luck

Yes, it´s the very end of the game. It should crash after the video and the credits.

I cannot agree, in all of the umpteen times that i played (and still am) playing Gothic, my game has never crashed, at the video sequences. Surely this is a graphics set-up/video problem.

Or maybe a cracked game with no movie sequences. A game suplier of cracked games could have ripped the sequences.

I have heard of this before.

Not saying that it is, but it could be.

@rasmuslarsen,

Yes that would explain a lot, but sometimes in the strange world of pc machines there seems to be no answers, one player on these forums had the same problem, it was suggested to download and install the bink player, which he did and it worked, - - that means he did have the files and his video card could execute them, but the game still crashed at the video sequences, so i suppose a very technical person would then explain further info's ?

@under_old,

If you can play the video sequences as mentioned in marvin, then your files are on the hard drive and o.k, - - so the next thing to look at is your pc-machine, but quite rightly as you suspect, that is the end of the game.
If you need more help post your p-c spec's - - i assume that it is correctly set up? - dma's enabled, mainboard chipset drivers etc' - also video card info, opperating system, etc, etc'.

My game crashed only once at the final sequence. I just restarted the game and it worked.

I had a couple of random CTD in Gothic, but there are a few documented bugs listed here in the forums if you look around. I've never lost a save or had a problem restarting it though, after a fault. The videos never broke for me at all. I can't think what it could be, other than the obvious driver issue.
