Insanity and Rapax alter
   

My whole party goes insane when I enter the room with the alter. Is this the only way to ascension peak?

Not sure which altar you're talking about, but you do need to go thru the Rapax Castle to get to AP. Perhaps you're swapping out your Helm of Serenity (assuming you already have it) for some reason? I can't think of anything in the Rapax Castle that automatically makes the entire party go insane.
